The first ones in production are fitted with the 'over-sized' turbo
so that it gets passed for homologation in that form. Once that is
done, they will fit a smaller turbo to the cars.
A lesson learnt from development of the Sierra Cosworth, where they
had to make a batch of 500 with larger turbos (the RS500 variant).

I think Airikkala was in Finland just for a short visit to

And a good one I think.

| Hi,
Just to go off at a slight tangent. I don't know the full statistics of this
car, but you don't have to be Einstein to realize its pretty damn fast.
I heard that Ford are teaching persons, purchasing the car, how to handel it.
Can anyone confirm this rumour?
I have just fininshed my lunch break and followed one up the Basingstoke road,
bonet, side skirt/wings are not bad to look at, but that Rear Cosworth spoiler
- how apt.

Granted, this is a good and a fast car. But that's nothing new (but
it is from Ford !). I reckon both Ford and GM are far too late to
come out with a front-engined, 2-litre turbo, four-wheel-drive rally car.
Pretty soon, these vehicles are going to be banned from rallying.
In the mean time, Lancia have won ANOTHER World Championship...
Ford forgot how to make and compete in top-class cars years ago (IMO).
I heard that Ford are teaching persons, purchasing the car, how to handle it.
But are they teaching the buggers that will nick it ???!!!

| I read an interesting article in Car Magazine, comparing the Escort
Cosworth, the Calibra 4wd Turbo and the VW Corrado VR6 2.9
All purchasable for around 20,000 pounds.
Escort was said to be very quick. Surprisingly refined, with a fair
helping of suspension travel, giving a more suple ride than many hot
hatches.
The car's chassis is more closely related to the Sierra. Being
lighter, shortened and adorned with an Escort'ish body. Nice car,
shame about the tea tray on the back.
I was pleasantly surprised to see a Ford advert for the car stressing
the standard alarm and immobilisation for this vehicle.
Now who is it that is lucky enough to own the Red K reg VR6 Corrado
appearing in the car park?

| It's lummly (going all goo goo).
It came 4th in the Autocar & Motor "Handling Day" and
was just a tad slower than a Porche 968, round the track.
But I'd wait for the smaller turbo version which will come
along soon once the required nums' have been sold for
homologation requirements.
Also with that wing, it thumps up the drag coef' which
means loads of petrol being used when travelling about
100mph (on the autobhan of course ;-)).
myk.

Mmmmn, not so sure about that bit because I would say the wing would also
give it high speed stability aswell. In fact I remember reading the comments
of some journo recently saying it was unusually stable flat out, due to
the downforce (front & rear).

reg is L251ENB and it's white, if anyone see's it. DON'T buy it.
It has had six attempted theft's and my wife took it through what can
only be described as a mini lake, those floods in Glasgow were fun.
Result, new engine and gear box as she managed to get water in the engine,
turbo and gearbox.
My wife hates it as we can't get the newly accquired pram :-( in the
boot as well as the newly accquired baby :-)
Besides all that it's well and truly thrashed :-)
By the way the company is not Digital.
