I'm not sure if there is a topic for this, however..... A recent EC investigation has revealed that some car models are up to 44% dearer in the UK than the rest of Europe. (pre-tax) The UK say this is mainly due to the level of spec we expect on cars. SO: There will be special euro-models of car, all of a low-spec, and these will save british buyers "between 600 quid and 1,500 quid when the new K registration year begins in August" Vauxhall has just cut dealers profit margins from 17-18.5% to 10%, and other makers are expected to follow suit. I recently bought an OPEL Astra 1.4i (new model) here in Switzerland. The catalogue price for a four door model, no extras (no radio) but with central locking and pollen filter, is sFr. 19,800. (approx Stg 8000). However after discounts etc, we paid sFr. 17,000. How does that compare to the British price ????

Perhaps we could we take the discussion to note 1720 where I put in the prices of cars in France and Switzerland, and one person replied with prices for Finland. If someone could put UK prices in then I would be very grateful. Steve
