1734.0. "Peugeot 405 coup/cabrio" by UTRTSC::BOSMAN (Market square hero's) Fri Mar 27 1992 11:58

    Hi,

    Does anyone knows if Peugeot will bring a coup/cabrio version of the
    405 model on the market?

    Thanks, Sjaak.

    I wouldn't count on ANY new 405 model - the
    406 will be out soon.

1734.3Still a 405 updateUTRTSC::BOSMANMarket square hero'sMon Mar 30 1992 16:147
    From a carmagazine I read that Peugeot planned an update for the 405
    this summer. 2 litre motor's instead of 1.9 *AND* instead of the MI-16
    a 2.0 litre turbo (coup). No information so far on the 406.

    The update will cover the interior and the back-side.

    So you answered your own question :-)

    All I have seen here in France is some pictures of the 406.

    The 405 coupe ?

    Good question since all you readers have seen it both in african
    deserts and on top of the rockies ....

    The coupe is not Peugeot's list anymore. As described previously the
    405 saloon will be slightly restyled soon. The new project is the 406
    and my guess is that it will probably be available in saloon, coupe and
    cabriolet versions.

    Ari Vatanen's fans must be very disappointed ...
1734.6Any dates for the 406 ?SKIWI::EATONMarketing - the rubber meets the skyTue Mar 31 1992 00:562
I guess the 2 litre is the one from the 605/XM. Will it be in 16 valve form ?
Reactions to it in the 605/XM have been mixed...

    Hi,

    Ari Vatanen's fans must be very disappointed ...

    I certainly am. Since I was a kid I loved the Peugeots coup/cabrio.
    One of my favorite all times is the 404 cabrio, very rarely.

    And now I can afford a Peugeot cabrio I like (at least I think I would)
    they're not gonna sell it. Sigh.

    I also saw some pictures of the 406. I hope I'll like it as much as I
    do the 405.

    Thanks for your respond, Sjaak.
1734.8405 Facelift/ReplacementBASCAS::CURRIE_IDyslexic snice brithThu Apr 02 1992 15:1621
    April 'CAR' magazine states that the 405 will be facelifted this
    summer, and the replacement available in 1994.

    The facelift is designed to improve the 'tactile' feel of the car -
    hence a new dashboard and many detail changes. Boot will be extended
    down to bumper level, and rear seat backs (on saloon) may fold.

    Replacement is now apparently going to be called 506 rather than 406,
    to reflect slightly larger size. It may be available alongside the 405
    for a time. It bears a strong family resemblance to 405/605, sleeker
    than existing 405. Engines will include 2.1 litre diesels (normally
    aspirated and turbo). It is suggested that there will be no estate
    version as the Peugeot/Citroen 'people carrier' should be available by
    then. (I wonder if estates and people carriers actually appeal to the
    same people?!)

    That's all I can remember.
