1576.0. "American car insurance brokers?" by RUTILE::BISHOP () Mon Oct 21 1991 17:08

Does anyone have phone numbers for insurance brokers that will cover certain
American make of cars?

Specifically i'm interested in insuring a Jeep Wrangler... but my normal
insurance compaines don't have it on their books... which i guess means it'll
bump up the premium a hell of a lot.

Thanks for any answers.

Cheers,

				Lewis.

I'm insured through Norwich Union on my Jeep.

They know of it is an "AMC Jeep", 'cos it's an old one (CJ7).

Almost all brokers should be able to quote from Norwich Union.

Besides that, you could try the 'specialist/high performance'
type of insurance brokers that advertise in the car mags.

My Ex-MOD Landy is insured through Adrian Flux, modified vehicle
department. I've always found them to be very helpful, interested in
the vehicles, and quite knowledgeable. (They also deal with our kit
car) The only problem is thay play awful 'music' at you if they put
you on 'hold' while they get your file!

      tel - kit cars 0553 691266
            modified cars 0553 692202

I'm sure that whoever answers the phone will give you the number for
the department which suits your vehicle!

Try also Snowball Insurance Brokers Ltd on (0283) 31391. They insure my Landy
on their four wheel drive scheme.

1576.4Thanks! Keep the numbers coming...RUTILE::BISHOPTue Oct 22 1991 12:2019
Thanks for the names and numbers so far. I've called them and this is how they
compare :-

For me only, 21 years old, 4 years NCB, No convictions, No accidents. - haven't
i been a good boy! ;-)

So Adrian Flux quoted me 788 fully comp, and 530 3pft. Unfortunately
SNowball could match that. After the lady found out the quota i already had
she didn't really want to tell me the figures.

Currently paying 389 fully comp in France for the same car, only problem is
road tax is 260 a year! So i guess it kind of evens itself out... ;-)

Cheers,

				Lewis.

PS. Know what you mean about Flux's music taste! I wonder if they can get
some funky tunes on their machine??? ;-)

Can't you just keep it insured in France?

How old is your Jeep ?

Adrian Flux do a Classic Car insurance for "older" vehicles as long as
they are garaged and do less than an agreed mileage.

When I was curious about an old Buik I was first quoted 800 for
ordinary insurance and then 80 for Classic insurance.

    It is worth trying !!

    If you're on about mine, it's a 1978 model.

It also has no idea what is like to live in a garage, and the
mileage figure varies from 500 miles per week to nowt...
