1412.0. "PROJECT RS2000" by SCOAYR::CFITZSIMMONS () Thu Apr 11 1991 23:02

             CAN ANYONE HELP ME?
I am just about to start a project rebiulding
an RS-2000 and will require the following parts.

ENGINE: Someone stole the cylinder head of off the existing unit.
Altough it is an RS i would prefer something small like a mexico unit
or maybe a sixteen sport although anything quick considered.

WHEELS: These were also stolen so have any of you escort lovers got
a set in your loft i can buy.

SEATS: YES YOUVE GUESSED IT! These were stolen as well, again they dont
have to be RS seats nice bucket seats would do the car is yellow so
partly yellow cloth would be nice.

I have listed above the main parts needed but if you have
got something the think i could use just drop me a line.

                    P.S hope you can help.
                                         Colin.

an RS-2000 and will require the following parts.

If this is a 'genuine' RS, surely you would want to replace with
original parts. If you do not, I expect a lot of Ford RS Fans
out there would like to gang up and lynch you !!!

ENGINE: Someone stole the cylinder head of off the existing unit.
Altough it is an RS i would prefer something small like a mexico unit
or maybe a sixteen sport although anything quick considered.

Thinking of going from a Pinto to a Kent Crossflow ?

That would get the RS guys fuming.

Anyway, if it is only the head (and cam, etc) that is missing, why
not get another - go to the scrap yard and attack a Cortina or Sierra.
If you have money to spare, have it modified to 'Group 1' spec (or
whatever). If you don't have the money, wouldn't you be better off
selling the three-quarters of a car for an exorbitant amount (if it is
genuine) and buying another escort and doing the work on that. You
would probably have change left over after buying suspension, wheels,
tyres, engine, gearbox and so on - compared to what many people will
    pay for a 'real RS'.

Look on the UK Engineering notice board under the for sale ads....
there was a set of RS alloys for sale this week. Don't know **WHICH**
RS they fit ........ but might be worth a try.

Also Dick Henneman (late of this company and conference) has a complete
xflow motor for sale. Call me and I'll give you his tel number.
1412.3DON'T DO IT!!KIRKTN::IJOHNSTONFri Apr 12 1991 16:2611
Why x-flow??? For al the difference in price and running costs you'd
be as well keeping it pinto. Or at very most putting a 1.6 OHC in it.
If you put lots of non standard bits like that on it your resale value
    will shoot right down.

So my advice is KEEP IT STANDARD!!!

bought a cylinder head for it.

If it helps, I am about to break a 1.3l escort MK2, so if there are any other
bits that you want (with exception of suspension, engine and g/box) then let me
know.

They're probably not the ones like you have Ian , you know the
horrible ones that are falling to bits and look like they were used in
    World War II .

    Hi,

At long last I'm going to commence rebuilding a MK 1 RS2000 which has
sadly languised in my garage for several years whilst I've been away
(NOT at Her Majesty's pleasure I hasten to add). Anyway, the crux of
the note is - does anybody have a contact address for anything like the
RS or AVO owners club as I am looking to get the well waxoiled but
wingless body restored to its former glory and am looking for a decent
restorer to do the work through the winter.

If anyone knows of any other addresses of known restorers aroung the
Lancashire/North Yorkshire area I would be pleased to hear them.

    Thanks for any info.

Practical Classics usually contains a list of all the club
secretarys. The last address I have for the RS owners club is 9 years
out of date. Nip into the newsagent and look it up.
