| an RS-2000 and will require the following parts.
If this is a 'genuine' RS, surely you would want to replace with
original parts. If you do not, I expect a lot of Ford RS Fans
out there would like to gang up and lynch you !!!
ENGINE: Someone stole the cylinder head of off the existing unit.
Altough it is an RS i would prefer something small like a mexico unit
or maybe a sixteen sport although anything quick considered.
Thinking of going from a Pinto to a Kent Crossflow ?
That would get the RS guys fuming.
Anyway, if it is only the head (and cam, etc) that is missing, why
not get another - go to the scrap yard and attack a Cortina or Sierra.
If you have money to spare, have it modified to 'Group 1' spec (or
whatever). If you don't have the money, wouldn't you be better off
selling the three-quarters of a car for an exorbitant amount (if it is
genuine) and buying another escort and doing the work on that. You
would probably have change left over after buying suspension, wheels,
tyres, engine, gearbox and so on - compared to what many people will
pay for a 'real RS'.

| Why x-flow??? For al the difference in price and running costs you'd
be as well keeping it pinto. Or at very most putting a 1.6 OHC in it.
If you put lots of non standard bits like that on it your resale value
will shoot right down.
So my advice is KEEP IT STANDARD!!!

Hi,
At long last I'm going to commence rebuilding a MK 1 RS2000 which has
sadly languised in my garage for several years whilst I've been away
(NOT at Her Majesty's pleasure I hasten to add). Anyway, the crux of
the note is - does anybody have a contact address for anything like the
RS or AVO owners club as I am looking to get the well waxoiled but
wingless body restored to its former glory and am looking for a decent
restorer to do the work through the winter.
If anyone knows of any other addresses of known restorers aroung the
Lancashire/North Yorkshire area I would be pleased to hear them.
Thanks for any info.
Ian

Practical Classics usually contains a list of all the club
secretarys. The last address I have for the RS owners club is 9 years
out of date. Nip into the newsagent and look it up.
