| Mark,
My reasons were basically : Thruxton is my local (used to live in reach
of Brands), so cheaper spectator entry, I hadn't joined a 'national'
club before - didn't know if they were value for money - so decided to
join BARC for a year a find out. I intend going along to a few Centre
meetings, because drinking and talking cars is my kind of fun.
Also enjoy watching amateur Hillclimbs and Sprints and the BARC seem to
be into that stuff.
Sounds like Derek holds different views.
Cheers - Mark

Well, you might enjoy it, but I used to be a BARC member for a while
(about 3 years) and didn't feel it was worth the money. I marshal at
Thruxton (free entry! :^)) and only miss out on the magazine, which I
didn't feel was worth the money.
Personally I also feel that the BARC is painfully cliquey, if you know
what I mean. I like marshalling at Thruxton, but I doubt I would if
they made being a BARC member a pre-requisite.
Let us know how you feel as time goes on.
