1203.1 | Fuel? | CRATE::SAXBY | Is this personal or what? | Thu Aug 30 1990 11:38 | 8 |

Could it be a fuel problem? I had a misfire in my Renault which
was initially diagnosed as electrical, but finally turned out to
be a clogged carb. The problem with mine occured after going
through corners quickly, but made hard acceleration is bringing
yours on. Just a thought anyway.

1203.2 | Ballast resistor on alternator? | SYSTEM::TOWERS | | Thu Aug 30 1990 11:55 | 8 |
| I had a similar problem on my old Astra GTE. The problem turned out
to be a blown ballast resistor on the alternator. Result was that too
much voltage was being supplied to engine management chip and it was
cutting out. The effect of this was that the car was no longer fuel
injected/engine managed and the correlation between right foot pressure
and performance became random.

1203.3 | (but can your ears stand 7000 in an AX for long :-) | SIEVAX::CORNE | Store in a horizontal position | Thu Aug 30 1990 16:34 | 8 |
| Well, it doesn't happen on all AX GTs - I often drive the one that belongs
to my other half and it never has any trouble reaching the red line (and staying
there when I need it!).
If it all returns to normal after a rest, could it be a slightly blocked
vent in the filler cap?

1203.4 | | SIEVAX::CORNE | Store in a horizontal position | Tue Sep 04 1990 12:47 | 6 |
| I tried holding high revs (6000+) for as long as my ears would stand it,
no problems as described. I suggest you find a better garage (I dunnow where
though!).

1203.5 | I shall get onto CITROEN UK
| MAJORS::REVELL | Shoots, but can't hit.. | Tue Sep 04 1990 14:55 | 14 |

Hi,
Thanks for all your input, I think I shall get in touch with the technical
department for Citroen UK.
As an aside, when I spoke to one of the Dunderheads at the garage about the
revving problem, he said that after 5000 rpm you'd get a lot of valve bounce.
If so , I said, then why's the red line at 7000 rpm ??
Gary.
