1190.0. "1961 TATRA 603 limosine in Paris" by MILLER::ANDERS () Fri Aug 17 1990 12:52

Hi,

Some Checz people arrived here in Paris with a splendid 1961 Tatra 603 limo,
and they are trying to sell it for 23,000 Francs (about 2,500 Pounds).

It's huge, with a bulbous shape and a split rear screen, looks remind one of
the 1940 American cars. Its an 8 cylinder rear-engined (!) thing, and
apparently only 300 were made for the Checz Govt. Its in a pale red, with
excellent bodywork for the age - couple of rust patches but nothing bubbling
through etc. and all the chrome is still bright - 120,000 Kilos on the clock.

The point is though - what's a car like this worth? One can only assume that
parts for it are absolutely unobtainable, and registering it in France or the
U.K. will be a "challenge". Ideas, anybody?

1190.1Registering it is easy... IOSG::MARSHALLHarry PalmerFri Aug 17 1990 12:583
...if a little time consuming. Maintaining it would be the hard bit!

1190.2Good buy, I'd say.CHEST::SAXBYIs this personal or what?Fri Aug 17 1990 13:117
    Surely it's a good buy at 2.5k. If nothing else it must be a museum
    piece and with the opening up of Eastern Europe parts shouldn't be any
    harder to get than for any other 'classic' car.

    If you fancy it, buy it!
