1166.0. "Fly squash remover" by COMICS::HWILLIAMS () Wed Jul 25 1990 18:00

    Hi there,

    Have any of you heard of 'Holts fly squash remover'

    if so is it any good, and who stocks it? its an aerosol apparently.

    I went to my local friendly halfords superstore and they didnt have it.
    My car is splattered with kamikaze insects which won't come off in the
    car wash (ok so I'm too lazy to wash it myself! and I've run out of
    elbow grease)

    Cheers, Huw.

    Yes,

    Its good stuff, I bought some a while ago, and got round to using it
    yesterday evening on the windscreen, and bonnet of my bug. It works
    quite well, and looks quite impressive, as it sprays on like a maniac
    using shaving foam !.
    I would recommend it.

1166.3NILGLASS, works for me......COMICS::COOMBERIt works better if you plug it inFri Jul 27 1990 10:3211
    NILGLAS glass cleaner is magic. It removes bugs, general crap and even
    will remove that yellow muck off headlamps after a trip to the
    continent.

    If thats not good enough ,Silk Cut Jaguar use this stuff to clean the
    windscreen during pit stops at Le Mans . If its good enough for them
    , it sure does the job for me. Unfortunalty the only place I know will
    have it is maccess, the motor factor version of makro.

1166.4Try your local glass dealerWELSWS::LOWEDFri Jul 27 1990 18:045
    You'd be foolish to buy Nilglass from can automotive dealer. Most
    Glass suppliers/cutters sell large bottles of the stuff fairly cheaply
    for house hold use...It's also very good of course for cleaning the inside
    of the windows as well.

    I've found that plain hot water and the rubber side of an ice-scraper
    works well. I guess that screenwash would help too.

1166.6Non-scratchy scratchy from the AAEVOAI1::HULLAHJacquie Hullah @EVOFri Aug 24 1990 11:288
    The AA used to sell a yellow non-scratchy scratchy sponge (scrapes
    off insects but doesn't scratch windscreens) - came in a plastic
    box too, so sponge stays moist.

    Unfortunately the AA no longer seems to stock this wonderful gadget,
    but someone else (Halfords tye place maybe) might.

    Re .-1

    A plastic pan scourer does a reasonable job. I invested in a dedicated
    one in case 'er indoors objected to dead flies in the washing up.
