986.2 | Rover 213? | IOSG::MARSHALL | A mse once bit my sister... | Mon Mar 19 1990 09:04 | 18 |
| A lot of people who've driven 213s rave about them. The one I drove was pretty
awful, but it was a hire car; I suppose handling is very subjective. Interior
finish is quite luxurious though. Boot's enormous if you need that sort of
thing. A new one would cost more than you'd get for the XR2 though.
Montegos are cheaper, and it was the first car to win a design centre award.
Wider range of trim than the rover (ie wider price band). Never driven one so
can't comment on that side of things.
What about an orion? Quite smart, if you like that sort of stuff.
Vauxhall cavalier?
Citren BX?
Renault can't-remember-the-number-but-it's-the-big-one-with-four-doors
...and so on. The list is endless.

986.3 | Our sensible car is a Cavalier... | MARVIN::RUSLING | MicroServer Phase V Session Control | Mon Mar 19 1990 09:40 | 9 |
| We have a Cavalier SRi as our sensible family car (I have a 2 year old daughter
and another one due in June). You can fit loads of gear in the boot (old or
new style car). The back's relatively cramped, it's really 2 adults or 3
kiddies big (that's if you think that a lap belt is sufficient). 2 children
in kiddie seats - no problem. Plenty of room for teddy too. The car's
comfortable on a long run and can pull all sorts of loads in all sorts of
conditions. A good workhorse of a car, now my other car...
