| I own a 1989 Turbo. Both rear taillights have condensation in them.
I have located 5 other GT owners who have the same problem. I have
already paid $150 dollars to have one replaced, which is experiencing
the same problem {but it started after the 90 day warranty}. They want
to charge me $350 to fix them. I have spoken with many different
dealers and owners. I am currently in touch with the Owner Relations
Manager with Ford and someone else has been in touch a Sales Manager
from Ford. One dealership and the Sales Manager have said Ford is
aware of the problem. Noone else seems to be aware of the problem. I
need to get a list of people who have or are experiencing the same
problem. All of our cars were purchased about 1-1/2 years ago, so
everyone's claiming their out of warranty.
I work for a Customer Satisfaction Group. To me, this is Ford's
problems and we, the customer should not have to pay for it. There's
obviously a problem with the taillights. There are too many people
with this problem.
Do you know anyone else?
Thanks, Michele

960.3 | Probes in the UK? | CECV01::BROWNE | | Fri Mar 09 1990 18:23 | 8 |
| Just curious...the Ford Probe and Mazda MX-6 (same car - different
body) are built in Michigan in the Mazda plant...are these sent to the
UK?
By the way,my daughter's '89 Pontiac Gran Prix has the same problem,it is
common with the huge taillight lenses on many late model cars.

| I dont know if they could make a European version easily. There are
probably some Euro-regs which make it hard. E.g. the door mirrors are
not spring mounted. If they get knocked hard they wont return to the
normal position - they would probably just break off ! As they are an
integral part of the body design it would be rather a shame to change
them.

| I live in Switzerland, where the Ford Probe seems to be selling nicely.
I saw 4 or 5 last week in Geneva and Neuchatel.
One interesting point. I saw one in my local village supermarket on Saturday -
the rear light cluster was condensed up, as described in the header note.
Seems to be a problem.

960.6 | I wish Ford would own up, though! | JURAN::MILES | | Mon Mar 12 1990 18:50 | 20 |
| re: .5
Boy, do I wish you had gotten the stat's on that car....
You're right, it seems to be a problem, only Ford won't own up to it...
I'm just afraid that someday, somehow, somewhere....the condensation
is going to mess up the electrical system in my car....AND THEN I
WILL BE REALLY MAD IF I HAVE TO FIX THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Is my assumption that if the condensation continues in my taillights, I
will have the possibility of having even more critical problems with
the electrical system of my car?
If you find any, write down the plate....I'm desperate enough to
find out the persons name....
