| I'm thinking of bringing a car from the Isle of Man to England.
The car was originaly used in England and shipped/re-registered to the
Isle a few years ago.
Does anyone know if it is possible to obtain a 'new' registration
ie J reg,(its a 1987 car) or will I need to go back to the original
plate?
Thanks, Craig.

821.11 | You have to have another "J" plate | DCOPST::BRIANH::NAYLOR | Tigers fly, Spiders roar! | Mon Aug 19 1991 21:12 | 1 |
| Unless of course you can prove it's brand new and never been registered before!

| A while ago when imported cars were reregistered in Britain they got
the current letter. This could be misleading and cars could be mistaken
for being newer than they actually were.
Nowadays you get the letter for the year when the car was first registered.
For '87 you should get a 'D' or 'E'.

| I agree with .12 Unless you can't prove the original reqistration date
etc (Shouldn't be a problem) in which case you would be stuck with a
"Q" plate like a kit car ;-)
