695.14 | On the way down? | VANILA::LINCOLN | The sun has got his hat on | Tue Apr 24 1990 13:27 | 12 |
| An auction held at Easter saw many cars failing to reach
reserves. The best price achieved was for a V12 E-type at
49,500 against an estimate of 60-65,000. About the cars
didn't sell at all apparently.
Last weeks Sunday Times had an article on all the 200mph
supercars that you can/could/will be able to buy. There are
so many that you have to wonder whether the market isn't
going to become saturated - how many super rich are there
about?. I for one think it'll collapse quite badly.

| I've been following the price curve. It is definitely confirmed
that the uncontrolled explosion is behind us. The "high volume"
cars have been coming down, almost back to normal (E-type, 308/328
GTB, ...)
The real exceptional cars are still going up in price.

| 911 turbo ? No, Colin ! The one you want is spelled
Carrera RS (1500 examples made in 1973)
I'm afraid the price went up (and still growing) pretty high.
If you have additional funds you can take the 2.7 Carrera engine
and make it a 2.8 RSR (300bhp @8000rpm).
