628.3 | Weber carb. | DUCK::NAGLEJ | FUNKY COLD RIBENA | Tue Feb 20 1990 11:39 | 21 |

Does anyone know of a local WEBER carbs dealer in this area ??
I'll briefly explain the problem.
Since a new camshaft and bearings were fitted plus a general clean
up the engine is running very lumpy on tickover. The carb has
not been touched. Before the overhaul the engine was fine on tickover
etc. It stalls alot etc.
Its either the carb itself or a valve not seating correctly on
tickover.
The engine is smooth when pulling away but the fuel consumption
is way too high even for a twin weber.
Anyone have the dealers name plus some ideas.???

628.5 | valve-timing ? | SYSTEM::RUNDELL | | Tue Feb 20 1990 12:58 | 2 |
| It almost sounds as if the valve timing is a tooth or so out,
especially if the cam has been replaced.

Thanx Mark. I called Phegre and they are closed this week so I'll
look around for someone else or wait until next week.
RE -1.
You could be right about the timing. I'll check it out. Another
point I've been thinking about is a sticking valve on tickover.
In future I'll start doing the work myself again. When I had the
work done it was the first time I had actually used the services
of a mechanic to carry out the work. In the past I've always done
the work myself. Still, if I do the work myself at least I know
if its wrong then I am to blame.
