340.0. "Spares stockists for Lancia, anyone?" by RDGENG::ARBISER () Wed Oct 05 1988 16:09

Call to DIYers -

Does anyone out there maintain a Lancia?? Well unfortuantely
I do! and since becoming an owner I have begun to hate the spares
sales companies in the Reading area. Problem I have is simply that
nobody apart from a certain Lancia (Mike Spence - Yuk, Spit!)
garage carries parts for my Delta.

When I first got the car over a year ago I was told of a small
outfit in Maidenhead, called Quality Service, who sold secondhand
as well as new parts. These people I visited at least twice and
was wholly satisfied with their service but, on my last attempt a
week or two back I found that they'd moved...(left no forwarding
    address either!).

So question, does anyone know where they've gone too or even
better does anyone know where I can get parts for my little Italian
    car in the Reading/Wokingham area?

    - Ian (Not so impressed with Lancia bodywork, or performance driver)

I know this topic has not been used for a long time, but if any new
readers would like to know, Cloverleaf Cars have a branch on the
A30 at Basing (just East of Basingstoke) which deals in Fiats,
    Lancias and Maseratis !

I have my Delta integrale serviced there and they seem ok to me.

They never phoned me back to arrange a drive in an Integrale.

A lot of dealers seem to think the world owes them a living.

340.12Integrale DemonstratorCRATE::RUTTERJ.R.Tue Oct 09 1990 18:0635
I asked about a test drive in a 16-valve integrale, having just
stepped out of my 8-valve (on the forecourt).

The dealer (salesman) told me that they do not have a demonstrator
for integrales - they sell by reputation.
It seems you are expected to put up your money, collect your car,
then find out if you agree with road test reports.

I did not buy my car through them, I had a test drive and collected
my car as a personal import. This was all done through CARTEL, who
had a 16v demonstrator as well as the original 8v, but they have now
gone bust ! That means that any form of warranty I had with them is
    also out of the window.

If you do want a test drive of a Lancia, there are one or two dealers
who advertise (in Autocar, I seem to recall) that they have cars
available as demonstrators. Whether or not they let you drive or not,
I don't know - they may only take you 'for a quick spin'.
More to the point, how can you 'show off' the performance and handling
of an integrale in London ?

If anybody is interested, I could permit 'test drives' in my car, but
I would like to know that you have legal insurance to begin with.
Then I would have to feel that you won't prang it.

Anyway, I think the car is great - believe me !

As for Cloverleaf, they are at least able to work on the car, which
I do not think that all Lancia dealers are prepared to do (even though
most of the mechanics are common to Delta Turbos etc.).

Lunchtime blast from SBP, anyone ?
