168.0. "NETBuilder question - DEFBA in hub900?" by MSE1::mse_pinnacle.mse.tay.dec.com::gelotti (Rick Gelotti) Wed Apr 09 1997 16:22

NETDEsigner question:

	Why can't the DEChub900 be configured with the
	DECswitch 900EF option (DEFBA)?

    Rick,

    NETdesigner V2.0 was cancelled last year. It would have
    supported FDDI in the DEChub 900.

    NETdesigner V1.9 did not support FDDI in the DEChub 900,
    which is why the 900EF is not there. V1.9 does support
    FDDI design and analysis (including the 900EF) outside
    the multiswitch hub.

    Systems Engineering has developed a visual network layout application
    which runs on top of VISIO. It is used world wide by Network Services.

    You can certainly drop FDDI, ATM, etc modules in DEChub900 slots,
    as well as select MOD-PMD connectors into the configurable modules.
    The 900EF is there, of course.
