| I'd like to get some information and what you think Buzzards Bay is
like vs. the Cape. We have to decide to a cottage on the water with a
private beach in Fairhaven, Buzzards Bay or a walk to the beach cottage
in South Wellfleet.
We really desire privacy and not alot of people. We have our dog also
and would hope to allow him to run on the beach (we'll be going off
season in May) and then there is our 3.5 year old son.. so a nice calm
beach would be best.
Thanks..

Looks like an apples and oranges comparison to me, and the answer will
depend on your preferences in fruit....
I grew up in Fairhaven, and can't think of where you'll find even a private
beach that that can really give you "privacy," but I can't imagine
where you'd find that in Wellfleet either. (Everything is so close together
everywhere.) The beaches will be very different between Fairhaven and
Wellfleet, both in overall size, and texture, and water conditions (surf
vs. flat). If you're going in May, I don't image you'll be doing much
swimming, but the visual aspects of the rolling waves may matter.
It'll depend a lot on what else you want to do on your vacation
whether one place or the other is better.

1699.15 | Wellfleet location dictates beach conditions | WRKSYS::PURIS | | Thu Apr 10 1997 14:15 | 16 |

Wellfleet abuts both the Atlantic ocean and Cape Cod bay. The bay side has
calmer/warmer waters, while the ocean side is cold with rough surf.
Parts of the ocean side are included in the National Seashore, which
has long streches of "private" beaches, (more so off-season). The bay side
is greatly impacted by the tides. At low tide it's as if someone has
opened up a drain and let out all the water. Fun for beachcombing etc.
You should find out what side of Wellfleet the cottage sits, to aid
in your decision.

1699.16 | north truro | NAC::WALTER | | Fri Apr 25 1997 12:21 | 12 |
| We are looking into staying at North Truro in the Highland Acres
Cottages. Supposedly, they are privately owned houses but one picture
I have looks an awful lot like a motel type atmoshpere (even a sign
that says Motel out front).
I'm wondering how they are. They are quite inexpensive and close to
the beach however, they offer no view. I'm wondering what their
grounds are like and if the cottages are close together.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, many thanks..

1699.17 | CAPE COD / any sewerage systems? | REFER1::ESULLIVAN | | Thu May 22 1997 16:41 | 7 |

Does anyone know if any part of the Cape has sewers, or is everything
septic? What about downtown commercial areas?
