Hallo (Arthur Len ?), Can someone explain me the differrences between the OPC drums ? I found three RICOH partnumbers i.e. : G713_01, _02 and _03. And I did only find one digital partnumbers i.e. : 29_27398_01 From the history I know three types i.e. : The good old dark green one, the new "squeaking" light green one and the so called improved new one. According to the story the improved one has a damping clothing on the inside. The question : How can I determine I do have a "improved" one ? and Are the good old green ones still available from Ricoh? If so can you supply me the partnumber ? Many regards Hans Huisman (Holland Printing Support) P.s. We still have some "noisy" drums.

First, I apologize for taking so long to reply. We changed manufactures for drums from Ricoh to someone else. That is when the color change happened. Those first "metalic" green drums were real howlers. Because of complaints, the new manufacturer placed a styrofoam plug in the end of the drum. This has helped to some extent. Most lps32s don't squeel, but because of the deferent speed of rotation, some lps20 still do. To my knowledge, at this time, no more modifications are planned. There is a date code on the drum box and on the end of the drum. Drums made after April 19, 1996 are the better ones. The date code looks like this: D A 6 4 19 D = Digital, A = the shift, 6= the last digit of the year, 4 = the month (Oct, Nov, Dec. are X, Y, Z) 19 = Day of the month. We have had reports of drums made on the 19 and a few days beyond still having the problem. Tom |
