              BLOCKBUSTER-SONY ENTERTAINMENT CENTER
              MONTAGE PERFORMING ARTS CENTER
              GREAT WOODS
              SARATOGA PERFORMING ARTS CENTER
              DARIAN LAKE
              HERSHEY PARK
              RIVERBEND
              DEER CREEK
              FIDDLERS GREEN
              SHORELINE AMPHITHEATRE

Remember: For each concert you may send in one order per person,
and each person must fill out his or her own mail order.
Duplications of any kind will cause disqualification of all
involved orders. Write anything on your order if you will accept
Lawn instead of Reserved, or write Reserved Only if that is all
that you will accept. You may also state locations you will not
         accept on your order!

         The Basics:
All orders must be sent in a #10 sized envelope, (This is
important: On the outside of your order to us list which concerts
and how many tickets to each concert that you want. Don't forget
to put your full name and address on the outside.) Your order
must also include a #10 sized self-addressed, stamped envelope
with 32 cents in postage for 1-8 tickets, and 55 cents for 9 to
16 tickets. Also include a 3 by 5 index card with your Name,
Address, Area Code and Phone Number in the upper left hand
corner. List how many tickets and which concerts you want.

Also, on the outside of your order to us please write which
concert's and how many tickets you want.

         Registered Mail Option:
We cannot be responsible for tickets lost, stolen or delivered
late by the post office. For this reason we strongly suggest that
you have your order sent back by registered mail. The fee for
this service is $6.75. This includes a charge to us for this
service. Add the registered fee to your money order, do not put
extra stamps on your return envelope.

         Payment:
Your payment must be A POSTAL MONEY ORDER, or an AMERICAN EXPRESS
MONEY ORDER only. No other payment will be accepted. No cash and
no personal checks. Make the money order payable to:

GDTS TOO-Furthur Festival(and put the concert(s) that you are
                                     ordering)

Keep your receipt. If your order is not filled your payment will
be returned to you. Remember, orders will be filled on a first
come, first served basis by postmark only, not by when we receive
them. Since this is a waste of your money, we will not accept
Express Mail, Federal Express, DHL, Etc., and absolutely no
Metered mail of any kind. This includes metered strips of any
kind, so if you go to the post office and give them money for
postage make sure that they put on actual stamps and not a
metered strip. Make sure that your full name and address are on
the outside of your order to us; your return envelope, and on
your payment. Also, make sure that your address is correct or you
         won't get your tickets!

The only address to send to is:

GDTS TOO-Furthur Festival(and put the name of the
              concert(s) that you are ordering)
              Box C-S 8150
              San Rafael, California 94912.

We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone.

We will make every effort to return orders, filled or unfilled,
prior to most of the outlet on sale dates, but obviously that
won't be possible for the first few concerts on the tour. Based
on last years requests we know that Reserved seats for Alpine
Valley, Deer Creek and Saratoga Performing Arts Center will be
tight, but we should be able to fill all other Reserved seat
         requests.

         Taping Section:
There will be a Taping Section for The Furthur Festival in a
roped off area on the lawn. It will be the only place that taping
will be allowed, and will be first come, first served at the
door. You will need a regular Lawn ticket to tape. Taping is for
non-commercial home use only, and all performances are the
property of the performing artists and Furthur Festival, Inc.

Reserved seats for these concerts are limited:
If you want to make sure that you get tickets regardless of
whether they are Reserved or Lawn, then please enclose two money
orders. One for the Lawn price, in case that is all we have left,
and another money order for the difference between Lawn and
Reserved prices. The differences are as follows:

FOR VIRGINIA BEACH AMPHITHEATRE-$3.75 PER TICKET.
              FOR NISSAN PAVILION-$5.00 PER TICKET.
FOR LIBERTY STATE PARK-$7.50 PER TICKET.
              FOR MONTAGE MOUNTAIN-$5.00 PER TICKET.
              FOR SARATOGA SPRINGS-$7.50 PER TICKET.
              FOR DARIAN LAKE-$5.50 PER TICKET.
              FOR POLARIS AMPHITHEATRE-$5.00 PER TICKET.
              FOR RIVERBEND AMPHITHEATRE-$7.50 PER TICKET.
FOR ALPINE VALLEY & THE WORLD-$6.50 PER TICKET.
              FOR DEER CREEK-$4.00 PER TICKET.
              FOR SHORELINE AMPHITHEATRE-$13.00 PER TICKET.

Multiply these figures by the number of tickets that you are
ordering. If we have Reserved tickets left we will use both money
orders. If we only have Lawn tickets left we will use just your
money order for Lawn tickets, and return the other money order.
Please note that for POLARIS AMPHITHEATRE there are two Reserved
seat prices; One for Lower Reserved and one for Upper Reserved.
The Upper Reserved price is the same as Lawn seating, so make
sure to state if you will accept Lawn instead of Upper reserved!
If you are having your tickets sent back by Registered Mail, add
the $6.75 fee to the money order for Lawn tickets.

Finally, our allotment of Reserved seats for each concert will
include some good (Lower Reserved) and some okay (Middle & Upper
Reserved). Remember that you can state on your order locations
         that you will not accept!

A light dawns... They probably meant "There are only 3 Springfields [at
  which DIGITAL has facilities]."

I checked a '93 phone book -- there were facilities at Springfields IL and
MO. So there might now be 3. One for each monkey.

Speaking of which, a coworker mentioned in a trip report that he was
interviewing potential DIGITAL college hires, and one candidate
enthusiastically complimented us on our watches. (And there were 29

April 17, 1997

THE RETURN OF THE FURTHUR FESTIVAL THIS YEAR JOINED BY THE BLACK CROWES AND moe.

In 1968, Bob Weir wrote a lyric that defined the Grateful Dead's history:

"The bus came by and I got on, that's when it all began." The bus was Ken
Kesey's, and it was called "Furthur." Weir and the Dead rode that bus for 30
years, going to places no rock band had ever seen, entertaining and
enlightening more fans than any other band, until 1995, when Jerry Garcia's
death ended the long strange trip.

But there was too much energy, to much joy, too much fun in the journey, and
so in 1996 weir (and his band Ratdog) and his bandmates Mickey Hart (and his
band Mystery Box) and Bruce Hornsby (and his band) joined with some old
friends to produce the first Furthur Festival- because, to quote John Belushi
in "Animal House" - "It's not over until we say it's over."

Therefore, and Furthurmore: Bob Weir (with long time associate Rob Wasserman
and others, also known as Ratdog), Mickey Hart (with his percussive
co-conspirators Planet Drum, Including Zakir Hussain, Giovanni Hidalgo,
Sikiru Adepoju, Dave Ganbaldi, and Bakithl Kumalo) and Bruce Hornsby and his
band have invited some young members of the family to join the ride. In 1997
Furthur will welcome to the main stage The Black Crowes and moe., and on the
thrust stage, master of ceremonies/acoustic delight Arlo Guthrie, as well as
hot new singer-songwriter Sherri Jackson.

It's no surprise that The Black Crowes and moe. have jumped on the bus,
because their shared path of improvisation and psychic exploration is part of
a tradition that goes back, back to poets and adventurers long before the
first electric guitar. It is a road artists will always tread. The Black
Crowes who've sold some 11 Million records in this decade with a stance as
modern-in-your-face as you'd want, regard themselves as heirs to the
tradition. Said drummer Steve Gorman, "When you're a young band, you tend
to get into a loop and play the same thing all the time.. When we first saw
the Dead, they confirmed our gut feelings; that only the music mattered, and
the rest is fluff, and that we should keep on going in as many musical
directions as possible. They taught us that respect for the music is what
keeps everything else in balance. The Dead were an affirmation that we were
on the right path, that this is what we're supposed to be doing.

The moe. guys see it rather the same way. "Personally I'm out of my mind
that we're included in the Furthur Festival, said guitarist Al Schnier.
"I've seen the Dead well over 100 times, and hold them in the highest
regard. The Dead has inspired a wonderful sense of community with their
fans, and their music has always been left of center, yet very traditional at
the same time. It's great to be a part of this tradition."

Of course, the tour will also include the vending village-- all the goodies
Dead Heads need, from tie-dye to jewelry to CD's-- plus the cybertent where
the surfing will be free. Confirmed dates are below but the tour will
definitely begin June 20th in West Palm Beach and end in early August on the
West Coast.

And of course, FurthurMore will end nightly with The Jam, when all of the
musicians (on a randomly rotating basis) will explore the musical cosmos
together. The experts felt they knew what to expect last year with Jorma
Kaukonen and David Hidalgo and so forth on lead guitar-- but now we've got
Rich Robinson (Crowes) and Al Schnier (moe.). 'Anything is possible' is the
cliche. In 1997, it's the truth.

Once you're on the bus, the road doesn't have to end.

	on the Hudson?

568.45MAIL2::TURNOFGreetings from the Big AppleTue May 20 1997 12:3917
    Debess,

Went last year when it was on the SUNY-Purchase campus and had a grate
time. However, this year I have lots of "stuff" going on and won't be
    able to make it.

The location is Croton Point Park which is right on the Hudson. Lovely
park. Also, the lineup isn't as "strong" as last year (IMO).

Last year a bunch of concerts (folk, blues, rock, jazz) were held on
that site. The promoters (or maybe it was the county) wouldn't let
people bring in food, coolers, chairs. Too restrictive for me. Hope
they don't do this for the vibes concert.

    later,
