    Gee, there's quite a few goodbye topics here... 
    My last term as a DECco-op is coming to a close, only a week left. 
    
    I was originally planning on working here over the summer, but now I
    realize deep down that this is not where my calling lies.  I am
    eternally grateful that I had the opportunity to work here and meet
    soooo many bright, intense, dedicated (and crazy!) characters... just
    good people.  Not to mention, I feel very lucky to have met all the
    kind noters here!  (Thanks to Rich Fromm, wherever you are.)  What a
    wonder it is that this technology can bring people together like this. 
    I will miss you all!  
    
    What I will be doing remains quite a mystery... so many roads...  In
    the meantime, I still have another year of school and unless I
    completely switch gears, another quarter of coop somewhere.  Been 
    thinking of checking out a smaller company, maybe doin something in 
    education, also itchin' to hit the road and visit some intentional 
    communities and see what the tribes have been up to.  Whew.
    
    Hopefully, I'll be visiting soon - who's going to Bread and Puppets?!

	ps - I am -definately- planning on B&P this year - they've already
	figured out their date btw - it's the weekend of Aug 24th - we've
	found a pretty good camping spot that we'll probably try to go to
	again this summer - so I'll try to remember to write down some
	direx to that so we can be extra sure to run into you, or you into
	us!  (or is that too planned?!?)  In any case, I'd really love to see 
	you up there!

	pps - will you come to Oktoberfest again next fall?!?

i think i told you this before, but last year at B&P
they had a lot of stuff available on communities
and community building in your own community...
some of it fits what we talked about once before
and some of it is designed more around fostering
community ideals in existing urban areas where
there isn't much "community" as we think of it...

unfortunately i can't find my community handbook
i picked up there (which had a web site URL in it too)...

I have some news for my Grateful friends...

I have handed in my resignation, and Friday will be my last day
at Digital.  I am not leaving to work for another semiconductor
company, but will instead be taking the rest of the summer, fall,
and winter off. 

I have been working at Digital for 4 years now as an IC Layout
Designer, working on the latest Alpha chips.  I came here straight out
of college, and before that entered college straight out of high school.
I have never had a chance to take a break and just take some time off.
Now, I'm 24 and the time has been flying by so fast that I want to
do this while I can.  I don't have kids, or a house, or a car payment.
This is probably the only chance I will have to do this without heavy
strings attached.  So I am doing it!  :-)  It has taken such a long
time for me to get the guts and ignore the fear and just do it.

My plans are to lay back this summer and concentrate on music and
enjoying the outdoors.  Hopefully, this fall I will be moving to either
Vermont or Colorado and doing the skiing/bartending thing through the
winter.  I'm going to go with the flow, and follow where it takes me.

I will really really (REALLY) miss this notesfile, and all of the wonderful
people in it.  My Dead years have probably been the happiest of my
life.  I have met so many awesome people and have had so many
wonderful experiences.  Nothing could compare to it.   

So, I will miss all of you very much!  Take care and always smile!
The only thing to fear in life is fear itself, and in the end
everything will work out.  I believe in the universe.

   it seems like i met you not too long ago, hard to believe it was over
   three years ago.

   and speaking of goodbyes, next wednesday will be my last day at digital.
   i've accepted a position with analog devices in cambridge. i'm now in the
   process of finding a place to live up that way (allston/cambridge) and
   plan on taking night courses at northeastern come september to finish
   up my degree.

   i started working at DEC in 9/87 (my first show was 7/87). I recieved
   my first tapes through this file (thanx Mystery Hill, i asked him for
   one show and he gave me six 8^). did my first mail order with the help
   of grateful (oxford plains '88, what a weekend!!!). i'm goNna miss this
   file immensely, and all the truly amazing people in it.

	Analog seems to be doing that hiring thing. Sonds like you're making 
a good move too. Remeber, We still do life tests and FA here in what used
to be SBO. Analog is an established external customer, so if you need some 
FA send it our way. Good luck with the move!  (But, there does seem to be a 
contradiction in my mind with ^dave and close to the city).

    Thanks everyone!!!  I am so excited!  I'm still going to keep in touch
    with Grateful.  I don't have a computer at home (so no email/internet
    access), but I will be keeping touch with some of you here, and then
    you can post updates in Grateful.  If anyone is coming into Boston,
    look me up!  And if Grateful plans any camping or biking trips, give
    me a ring and update me (now I'll have lots of time).  I am 
    planning on going up to the Bread & Puppets festival the end of August,
    so maybe we can meet up there.  
    
    And dave, YES!  That is so excellent, I am so happy for you!  Also, once 
    you move to Allston/Cambridge we'll be living right near one another :-)
