297.0. "bound to cover..." by OCTOBR::GRABAZS (Not fade away!) Wed Sep 09 1992 12:00

I don't know if we've ever discussed this specifically.
What's your favorite cover done by the Dead?

I think my favorite would have to be, unequivocably,
Morning Dew. The way it slowly builds to a crescendo taking
you with it - you can feel it building within your own body
and you anticipate the band letting go and jamming out.
The way you can hear Jerry's soul coming through the words.
The way the music and the words slow to its sad, tragic end.
Wow. Pretty dismal subject matter, but still, I love the
	way they do it.

Sometimes It's All Over Now Baby Blue comes out like the ultimate in
candy. Or the old and more recent way they do Dancing In The Streets.
    Totally laid back and relaxed.

Rodney who? There really are lyrics, but all I can remember is:

Some say that life is made for fun and frolic.
And so do I. And so do I.

I second "Dear Mr. Fantasy," but I never liked "Hey Jude." Another
favorite is "Gimme Some Lovin'," which they used to play the first show
of every stand 'cause of the "so glad you made it" line.

Definately my favorite cover is " The Weight" I heard it at my very
    first show in MSG.

Favorite JCG cover is by far " Shining Star" Jerry does much better
covers on average. He has more of a desire to do new things. Hence
Jerry Garcia Band live. An album wiht only only one Dead/Jerry song.

    re .33

I watch it . . . only "The Simpsons," though. Except for this week
because it's Sherlock Holmes Week on A&E. I've never seen that movie,
but I was forced to sing the song in latin in high school. Plus, I
call it "the boob tube." :^) "Boob" as in "fool," or I'd watch it
    lots more. :-)

My favorite might just be "Morning Dew." I can't think of one I really
dislike, oh wait, I forgot about "You Ain't Woman Enough."
