57.0. "The official BAMO note" by ESGWST::MIRASSOU (Someone please Fax me a beer.) Fri May 08 1992 20:39

I looked and looked, but couldn't find a BAMO note. So here's a new
    one.

Anyone interested in a West Coast lunch? Anyone coming out for the
Cal Expo or Shoreline shows? If there are, let me know and I'll see
    what I can get together.

Hey John! Don't plan anything for Shoreline weekend! I think I'll be
hosting a brunch. Since we can count west coast DECheads on one
hand (and west-caost ex-DECheads on the other), how about if we just
do the BAMO at the brunch. The only warning is that there'll be a lot
of people there not from DEC (some from Sun even 8-0)...

Sounds good to me! By the way, I've received mail from Ken Blakkan
expressing interest in the BAMO, too.

I may have a great dilemma for that weekend.
I think I'm gonna have to end up making the choice between seeing the
Shoreline shows and hearing a lotta music, or wandering off into the
woods with a bunch of people and helping make a lotta music.

    >> ... The only warning is that there'll be a lot

Umm... is it safe to admit this in a DEC notesfile? I don't know
the actual percentage, but in the group I work in, I think there's
nearly as many Sun workstations as there are DECstations. And just
about everyone has a workstation to use. (8-0 yourself!) Besides,
this is California! Aren't we all supposed to be sun worshippers?

    There is only one god
    He's the sun god

Really?? How do you get your hands on a Sun?? I'd love to play with
one! 8-0 Maybe I should transfer over to your group...

> There is only one god

How about the hottub god?? And what about the beach god?? Of course, the
beach god wouldn't look half as good without help from the sun god, but
the hottub god exists in a category all his own. Hail to the hottub god!!

    > Really?? How do you get your hands on a Sun?? I'd love to play with

To get your hand on a Sun, you need a pair of rilly, rilly thick gloves,
an awesome pair of shades, and some SPF 4-gazillion lotion.

Actually, the product I work on (PowerFrame) theorhetically runs on a
whole buncha different platforms, and we've gotta make sure it really
works on the things we say it works on. And, since many people here
like Suns, and they came with the company DEC bought when they bought
    PowerFrame, there you are.

Don't complain to me! Talk to the Egyptians, Ra is one of theirs.
I'm kinda partial to the beach & hottub gods myself, but I though
she was the hottub goddess. And we shouldn't forget the beer diety
    or the backrub diety, either.

    Ahh, hedonism....

But in California, you don't have Frost Giants to make you fully
appreciate the hottub god! There's few things to compare with sitting out
on a cold winter's night, snug in the hottub, while watching the stars, or
a light snowfall, and listening to the wind howl. Just be careful not to
slip on the ice when you get out! Winter's only seven months away!

Mark, who's about to visit the altar of the hottub god, even if the temp's
in the fifties now.

Ahhh, but I live in the mountains where Frost Giants do indeed appear
every now and then. We get snow up here a few times a year. Of course,
being up in the mountains also means I get more stars than most people 8-)
(or at least I can see a lot more without all the city lights diminishing
them! 8-) It even gets down into the 40's here in the winter 8-o ;-).

Relativity, my dear!! Frost Pygmies to right-coasters and Frost
Giants to left-coasters (most of whom will say "Frost?? What's
that??" 8-) ;-)

Wait a minute. I'm confused. I thought the Giants played up at
Candlestick park. And Frost is at Stanford, except the Cardinals don't
play in Frost, they play in whatever the big stadium is called.
I only seen Jerry Garcia playing at Frost. Where do the Pygmies play?
And what do dear relatives have to do with them? Is Ace the dear
    relative you're talking about?

Oboy, oboy, oboy! I've been a metalhead & a deadhead, but I've never
been an icebuckethead before! It's a whole new way to blow your mind!

I want whatever you had! 8-) Really folks, I used to know John Mirassou
before he partook of too much of that Folgers freeze-dried mind crystals!
He was a decent fella once really, but don't worry, we'll pound him (with
love, of course ;-) back to reality! 8-)

    Smile for the camera, fly a mile or two;

Well, John, looks like you should go ahead and make plans for a BAMO.
We can't host a brunch this Shoreline run (too much else going on that
clashes with it). How about a BAMO sometime in June when some of us
are back from tour or during the week??

peace,
t!ng

Will do, T!ng, soon as I figure out where I'll be when in June. Beth's
going to drive her mothers car out to Chicago (where her mom just
transferred to), and if work'll let me, I might try to tag along.

Well, it's only a couple months later... :-)

Anyway, for anyone who is interested, and who didn't get Email from me
(which is any of you east-coaster types who might be out visiting, plus
Ken B. coz I fergot his new address)...

We're trying to organize a BAMO the week of the Shoreline shows. Does
that work for anyone interested? Where are people coming from, so we
can try for a (relatively) central location?

If you're interested, let me know, and I'll keep you posted as things
    progress.

How about if just you and me have lunch some fine weekday afternoon??
8-) I'll let Andy and Pat, Jules and Billitier, Kevin and Jackie,
and Ken know, but Andy works in San Francisco, so a BAMO during
lunch hour during the week is no good. How about the weekend
after the Shoreline shows seeing as how Squaw got cancelled...

I got your mail, John, but wha's a BAMO?

BAMO == Bay Area Mandarin (original - after Fog's RMO's) Offsite
Munching (a better substitution sunce we don't have
the Royal Mandarin around here 8-)

Basically, a gathering of Bay Area DECheads and ex-DECheads (seems like
there's a lot more ex-DECheads than DECheads out here!! 8-)
