| To clarify ...
For cold cut sandwiches I prefer to use honey mustard.
For hot dogs ... Gouldens mustard (no ketchup please!)
For hamburgers ... mayo
For french fries ... ketchup
For kielbasa ... honey mustard & grape jelly (heated into a sauce)
For just about anything else, keep the condiments ... I'll take it
nekkid ...

220.12 | | ESGWST::MIRASSOU | So... what DOES it all mean? | Thu Dec 05 1991 14:40 | 4 |
| Usually mustard, especially brown or hunny. Sometimes catsup, too.
Mayonaise I affectionately refer to as "snail-snot", and avoid as much
as possible, though I admit it's much preferable to Miracle Whip, or
whatever the imitation mayo is...

got some cactus salsa at home, sans needles of course.

| I just finished a roast beef sandwich with swiss and Grey Poupon dijon mustard.
Grey Poupon is the only mustard I've bought since living here. But I like a
good deli/brown mustard and honey mustard is tasty, too.
I never use ketchup at home, either. It's usually A-1 sauce for me.

220.22 | | BCSE::ABBOT | | Fri Dec 06 1991 11:07 | 15 |
| Cheese is essential to life. So is garlic. Oh yeah, beer too.
The only thing I use ketchup for these days is fries (I like those
spicy ones), and you need a little to make pad thai. My mother got me
into the custom of mustard in grilled cheese, though lots of people
think it's gross.
One more condiment: tartar sauce. Can't have fish or fried clams
without it.
Mayo I think is gross. I use it when I occasionally make potato salad
or tuna salad, but even then I treat it like it's poisonous.

220.25 | | BCSE::ABBOT | | Fri Dec 06 1991 13:31 | 6 |
| I don't mind mayo if it's mixed in things (tuna, potato salad, etc),
it's just mayo by itself that's yucky. I get Cains tarter sauce
because it has a higher pickle to mayo ratio.

Fog's Condiment Rule Number One..
For whatever food you are eating, choose the condiment which
maxmizes sugar content while minimizing the Pffeh effect.
Pffeh effect:
A reaction to a particularly distasteful combination of foods,
characterized by toungue thrusts, exclaimations such as "Bloooeeeiie",
and facial muscles contortions which resemble those of a hampster
while he is being consumed by a boa constrictor.

Mustard rules... My favorite kind is Pommerey! It comes in those
kindof heavy duty stone-like jugs with a plug type top, not a screw
on thing... First class, down home, stuff. Its made from
the mustard seed, a touch of wine (No not whine) and other things
I don't recall.... It smoke the doors off of thos Grey Poupon
people, and you don't get accused of being a snob when you use it!
As to the Mustard/Mayo battle, I often mix about 50/50 Pommerey and
Helmanns to make a sauce for all sorts of things - steak marinade,
... sh*t got a meetin, got to break this thought - I hate that...
