Snif, Snif, Snif........
Don't go, stay, find a job quick. I'm going to miss you to much
to let you go. The only hope I have now is that they close
Devens (where Barry works) and send us out to CO. They are
talking about it. John, you have helped me so much I couldn't
even beging to thank you. Just knowing that I could pick up the
phone and you would make me laugh. The thought of loosing you now
makes me crazy.....let them can me instead. I'm ready for it...
it would get me use to being home and becoming a Mommy. This
company really sucks. They always take the good guys and leave
the shit-bums behind. (Not that any of us are shit-bums because
we still have jobs but you catch my dirft)
Love ya John......

| John Ryan,
I am mainly a read only, but every once in a while put a comment in or
a request. I have read your notes carefully lately and I really like
what I am reading. You seem very happy and at peace with yourself.
You have been a friendly medium and haven't blown up about little
things (Some people may have been really P.O.ed about a note title
change - You were really cool about it).
Everyone. John has set a good example. Lately have have seen way too
many extract - slash/repost (as / stateed in earlier notes). I don't
remember seeing this so much before - especially many of the personal
attacks. I think people are making to many generalizations and
opinions about others that they *really* don't know. Let people have
there opinion and don't crusify (sp) them for having that belief or
opinion. You can disagree, but you don't have to insult them.
I come to this notes file for the same reason as many other. For
GD information, and some fun and games. I know the world we live in
isn't perfect but we are all on this ship of fools together.
Take it easy and have some respect. That is the grateful way.
John R. You have made it through many bumpy roads. CANGRATULATIONS!
I wish you luck and much happiness. Take care my friend. May those
road in the future be smooth and happy. :-)
Peace Mon,
Scottg

| Why are we so tense?
Hell, it's MARCH!
;^) I always start getting a bit antsy or bummed out
around Feb./March ... things get cheerier in the spring. Humans need that
sun. (you Californians are all set ;^)
On a more serious note ... hey, we just had a war. Am I alone in being
pretty upset about that? Every time I think about it, it nearly breaks
my heart.
I miss Coz's Parties in the Woods. People are more apt to get uptight
with each other in Notes than face-to-face (as someone mentioned earlier).
Tell you what; let's all take a week's vacation at the same time. Hmmm,
we'll need to meet somewhere in between ... say, Kansas. I'll bring the
Zarex.

John,
Here's a read-only (mostly) from the U.K. who agrees completely. I first felt
that the goodbyes seemed overdone. However, after a year of trying to quit
Grateful, I find myself coming back to it every time. Although the network
access from this side of the pond is atrocious (which is one reason I don't
write much), I still find myself making the effort to catch up on what everyone
is doing.
The feeling is definitely one of openness and trust. In some ways, I see it as
encapsulating the Digital theory of trusting people to do the right thing. We
are all going through a very difficult time, both in company (economic) and in
more general world terms. I think that sort of pressure is bound to take its
toll. However, if we are aware of the stress being caused, then we can make
allowances for it and proceed in a more normal way.
I will certainly miss your notes, John, as one of the thought provoking people
in here. I guess I like my preconceptions to be challenged. It's the only way
to keep you perspective fresh.
Cheers,
Tim

Which is exactly why I'd recommend that we don't talk about groups rumored
to be laid off or expected imminately, etc. Not trying to censor anybody,
but I'd sure hate to read about it in here if my group was "rumored" to be
on the chopping block...

re the last few
I not bummin on this cause the rumor mill is so hot and heavy these
days anything is possable. The thing that has me P.O is the lack of
communication from management(now where have I heard that before?)
I for one would like to be told atleast what proposals are being
negotiated I'm a big kid I can take it. But this kind of thing is why
so many inmates on death row say "do it and just get it over!"

Yeah, I know what you mean. I guess I was speaking as a manager. I've got
16 people who are just as concerned as everyone else. And I try to keep
them up to date with whatever information I hear (albeit very little). Problem
is however they may read this or another Notes conference and pick up on rumors
and they go into a panic and I spend a day or 2 having to calm everybody back
down.

Oh you guys, everyone say a prayer to teh spirit of your choice between
9:00 - 11:00 Mountain time for me, please. I have a 2 hour technicsl
interview that was quickly arranged by my funder, that wants me onboard.
They talked to me last night and I was honest and told them they should
only fill their req, with a highly qualified technical person as it
would not help DEC to keep people just because they liked them. Not really
very smart am I?? Anyway, they are hoping i can demonstrate the technical
expertise, but i have been a course developer adn tech. writer for so long
that I have really really lost my confidence in the technical arena. Hey,
I like the touchy feelie stuff!!! Anyway here is hoping I even have two hours
of technical in me!! It is with Sales Support so I could take a step towards
the field I have been told to getr in.
Bye and thanks for the kind words, sure makes me feel good, I'll put my
home address and phone number in later.

Hey John,
We train Sales and Sales Support people here in my building.
Very new and very technical training. Maybe they would be
interested in sending you out here for a few weeks of training.
Sounds great to me. You would have a much nicer place to stay
then in a hotle, meet some new/old friends, and become a tech.
wize all in one tirp. Sounds like the best reason to take the
job....only kidding, gotta do what feel good for you. Wish
you luck John.

Well, ya see, you are a DEC consultant to a College and they have a
1000 student user expectancy in this one building and then about a 30
user admin. group in another blg. connected to a 15 user admin group in
a city across the state. What do you advise they get, hardware and software
no budget problems. Please be specific. WOW!!! did I _not_ have a good
interview, I didn't know the software or the network or the hardware, other
than that I did pretty well. ;-)
It was sweet of them to try, but I really am not Technical enough. I appreciate
the Mail from you all and T!ng, thanks for calling. Everything is good here,
