| I was going to suggest Little Feat was I was beat to the punch. It's hard to
think of an act that would "guarantee" a sell-out at $100 a head but isn't TOO
big (2400 seats is really small - I'd love to see any one of my favorites in a
place like that!). Given that, here are a couple of suggestions:
Jimmy Buffett
Elton John
James Taylor
Allman Bros
Neil Young
Slipknot

>Jimmy Buffett
Jimmy Buffett is from FLA, right? If so, he'd be a good choice for such a
festive time in a place with great weather.
>Elton John
>James Taylor
Elton John and James Taylor cross generation gaps so they'd attract enough rich
older people who'd be willing to shell out bux for a show.
>Allman Bros
This might work. They'd probably feel fine playing til 6am, and, in doing so
(and advertising the show as such) would probably have no problem selling out.
>Neil Young
I doubt it (IMO).
>Slipknot
There's a thought! Put me on the guest list before I drop a Franklin on them,
though!
My suggestions:
The Radiators are from Louisiana, right? That's right around the corner. Not
sure if they'd sell out at $100 a pop, though.
Lynyrd Skynyrd, maybe. Most of them are from Gainesville, FL if I'm not
mistaken.
The Rolling Stones would definitely sell out regardless of price, but I doubt
they'd do a show on demand.
Bonnie Raitt
If the Eagles reunite this year (let's hope!)...

Buffet is a grate idea - you would think a Floridian, or at least the
father of a Floridian (me) would have thought of that. duh.
I tend to think of NYE as a relatively roudy event - not the type of
think for a folksy, quiet evening - but nobody said it has to be only
one act! For those kind of bucks, they can afford a hot opener too,
one would think.
Thanks everybody. NE1 planning on being in Tampa next NYE, please look
me up!

The Doobies are releasing a new cd, if that means a new tour I'd go for
them. they have a wide appeal and the cuts I've heard from the new stuff
is IMO great.

| Well, I was a BIG fan of theirs years ago. I saw them a few times at
the Fillmore in the early 70's and went to the release party for their
first album (East Bay Grease which to the best of my knowledge is not on
CD yet) and then saw them a bunch of times at a bar in the San Jose area
in the early 70's.
I haven't kept up with them for a while, but would love to see them again.
I recently pickeup the Last Days of the Fillmore CD on which TOP does
"Back on the Streets Again" (hot BTW).

I saw the Tower of Power horn section not too long ago playing with
an act (I won't say who though)... - that's *one* of the hardest working
horn sections in the biz.....

And what was the new name that the Sons of Champlin took? If you like
Tower of Power and the Sons and other SF music from back then, check out
that last Days of the Fillmore CD....some excellent music on there. I bought
it Saturday and wound up driving my kids crazy playing it, and reminscing
about the "old days" :^/

They do a lot of playing with other bands...they used to play with Huey Lewis
a lot...the tall thin guy (Kupka is his name I think?) used to blow me away..
I always thought if he got to boogying too much he was gonna break into little
pieces!)

They are on Letterman every once in a while as well.

| Son's of Champlin became The Sons and then...
Yogi Fleghm (and didn't last very long at that.)
Tower of Power has had a bunch of lead singers. I've forgotten their
names but initially they had a guy that sounded a lot like Wilson Pickett,
who sang a lot of the funky type tunes, and another guy who sang a lot of
the ballad type tunes. One of them wound up in prison for murder (although
I seem to recall he got out of the pokey on an appeal of some sort).
But yes, one of them was tall and skinny.

nope not Eric, I entered this a couple of years ago, but whoever it was came in
my families store and bought a bunch of expensive English riding pants to wear
on stage. My mom was very impressed by his wealth and niceness both. He had
four tickets to that nights show delivered to her later in the day as a
surprise and then the next day came by and asked how she liked it. Can't
remember who it was though.

the song "Papa's got a brand new bag" ? Ronnie Earl played this once, a long

can't get him to play it that often (i've only heard it once)
nice FUNK....
