Whoa! Don't do that! There's still more to come ;^)

Thanks for all the help so far, the album names help too!
    .
Here's a couple more to work on:

    6) Joe Cocker (?), Title

       Woman of the country
       now I've found you
       Longin (??? in your softenfortaldinto ;^) ???)
(??? Somethin somethin ???) to satisfy
your longing for the warmth and tender shelter
         of my body

Oh your my, yes your my (??? somethin ???) lady
Me oh my (??? somethin ???) lady

     7) Elton John (?), Title

I hope the day will bring a lighter highway
for friends I found and never wrote
Can you ever think of a better way
for the lost and weary traveller to go

Makin firends, for the world to see
       let the people know
       you got what they need
       with a friend at hand
       you will see the light
       if you're friends are there
       then everything's alright

    8) Eric Clapton, title? (an easy one, I'm embarrassed to be asking ;^)

Tell me that you love me
       as often as you can

    9) Artist? Title? (Still Wine maybe or somethin like that...)

I was outside strolling on a very hot summer day
when I thought I'd lay myself down to rest
in a big field of tall grass
I lay there in the sun and felt it caressing my face
and I fell asleep and dreamed
I dreamed I was in a Hlloywood movie
and I was the star of this movie
       This really blew my mind
that me, an over-fed, long-haired leapig gnome
should be the star of a hollywood movie
       hmmm
       but there I was....

    10) Jackson Browne (?), Title?

       Papers lie there helplessly
in a pile outside the door
       I tried and tried
but I just can't remember what they're for
       the world outside is tugging
like a beggar at my sleave
that's much too old a story to believe

You know it's taken it's share of me
Even though you've taken such gopod care of me
You say Morocco - that makes me smile
I haven't seen Morroco for a long long while
Dreams are rollin gdown the places of my mind
and I just had a taste of something fine...

Here's some more of what I can make out of 4)

    4) Three Dog Night, Title?

Well I never been to Spain
But I kinda like the music
Say the ladies are insane there
and they sure know how to use it
       they don't abuse it
       never gonna lose it
       I can't refuse it

Well I never been to England,
but I kinda like the Beatles
Well I headed to Las Vegas
Only made it out to ......?
       Can you feel it
       must be music
       feel so good
       feel so good

well I never been to Heaven
       but I've been to Oklahoma
they tell me I was born there
       but I really don't remember
       in Oklahoma
       or Arizona
       what does it matter
       what does it matter

the feelin'. Anyhow here is a note he passed on to me to try and help
him out. So if anyone out there knows this song you would make someone
    very happy.

Since I haven't heard the song in a while, I can only remember a few
of the actual lyrics... I think this chorus is correct though...
        thanks for your help.
Here are several lines, not necessarily in order...

I hear you're going through some changes.
You started looking like a burn out,
You're lookin' like you might have stayed out all night.
You .................... to drive me crazy.
You drive a man stark raving wild.
	chorus...?
	       Oh, Nicole'
	       My sweet Nicole'
	       Oh, Nicole'
	       Sweet, Sweet Nicole'
This has sort of a ZZ TOP sound to it, although I've been told that it
isn't them. Lead singer is reminiscent of early Steve Winwood.

hey now da ve!
I was thinking of this on the ride to school last night. The idea I came
up with :) is that since Hornsby played that tune with the dead and the
dead allow taping at shows - and we can post dead lyrics without offending
anyone (moderaters and other such folk) then wouldn't the same thing
apply to Hornsby and any other guest who performs with the Dead with
an aformentioned knowledge that their material will be taped and traded
and and and...
I dunno - I guess if you are ignorant to all the laws surrounding this
(like me) then you can rationalize anything, anyway you want it to be :)
?
maybe this note ought to be elsewhere,

>Any clues? :-)
I hear the first line as "Follow me, don't fall on me," but Stipe
mumbles so much it's hard to tell. Lessee, "spine" could refer to
"backbone" or "balls" in the sense that the singer is a leader, a
decision maker. And he's chosen Orange Crush as his soft drink. As a
leader, he wants followers, but not those who follow so close that they
walk, or fall, all over him and impede his progress. In a time when
there's little real leadership to be found, Stipe is making the point
that anyone who stands up and makes a decision, even on a mundane
matter such as what to drink, becomes a leader.
I've got my Diet Pepsi; queue up three paces behind, you spineless
jellyfish who'll drink whatever's handed to you.

I always interpreted this song ("Orange Crush") as being sung by a
soldier in Viet Nam. I think he's referring to the defoliant known as
Agent Orange that the US used to flush out and fight the Viet Cong.
So what he's saying is, I've got my nerve, I've got my supply of
deadly toxins, and I've got the backing of good old Uncle Sam, so what
else do I need here in this lovely jungle setting? I interpret this
way from other lyrics in the song:
We are agents of the free
	...
	I've had my fun
	And now it's time
	To serve your conscience overseas
Comin' in FAST .... over me
I also get this from the part in the middle of the song where it
sounds like a soldier talking about fighting in the jungle, while in
the background is the sound of helicopters (big old Hueys, I guess).

it is a Vietnam/Agent Orange tune... comes from "the horses mouth"
as it were by way of a radio interview some time ago... fwiw i think
Jamie actually has the lyric right "don't fall on me"... and Tom is
closer on the interpretation... there are other references (somewhat
obscure if i recall) to "don't fall on me"... if i remember correctly
there is a connection to the "spine" and other references to the effects
of the chemicals on the body (in this case the nervous system)... the
"orange cruch" is the agent orange chemical defoliant...

| | Simple Twist of Fate
	Bob Dylan
They sat together in the park
As the evening sky grew dark,
She looked at him and he felt a spark tingle to his bones.
'Twas then he felt alone and wished that he'd gone straight
And watched out for a simple twist of fate.
They walked along by the old canal
A little confused, I remember well
And stopped into a strange hotel with a neon burnin' bright.
He felt the heat of the night hit him like a freight train
Moving with a simple twist of fate.
A saxophone somewhere far off played
As she was walkin' by the arcade.
As the light bust through a beat-up shade where he was wakin' up,
She dropped a coin into the cup of a blind man at the gate
And forgot about a simple twist of fate.
He woke up, the room was bare
	He didn't see her anywhere.
He told himself he didn't care, pushed the window open wide,
Felt an emptiness inside to which he just could not relate
Brought on by a simple twist of fate.
He hears the ticking of the clocks
And walks along with a parrot that talks,
Hunts her down by the waterfront docks where the sailers all come in.
Maybe she'll pick him out again, how long must he wait
Once more for a simple twist of fate.
People tell me it's a sin
To know and feel too much within.
I still believe she was my twin, but I lost the ring.
She was born in spring, but I was born too late
Blame it on a simple twist of fate.

There's a recording of "I've got a bag of my own" on James Brown's "Do it to
   Death" album. 1973??
The whole album is good (I especially like "I got ants in my pants and I
need to dance"). There are some nifty bass-lines on this album, as well
   as some pretty hot horns.
Here are some incomplete lyrics from "I got a bag of my own".
I got a bag of my own!

Now baby, stop all that gabbin'
We don't need no back stabbin'
   ...
   Wait a minute!

   I sweat all day
   and half of the night
   Take care of it
   and handle it right
   My body's built like a 32-24-45 frame
Don't shoot nothin', but ball and chain
   ...

   Don't knock it
if you don't want to rock it
I got a bag of my own
(Lots of shrieking, hooting and hollering included, of course)

JB just played GW last week - sorta bombed according to the reviews in the
Globe and the Phoenix.
NEway, I was listening to Beggars Banquet on the drive in this AM and
figured out some of the words to Street Fightin' Man that I never got before:
"aayyyy, an' the neighbors call, disturb us"
	                 ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
but there's still a bunch more lines in S.F.M. I don't get.

I also am not sure the last line in Dear Doctor:
"Oh mama, I'm cryin tears of relief
and my ???? is now under control."
where ???? sounds like "pus" !!! (Bleahgh!) Anyone know?

A fine little girl, she wait for me.
Me catch the ship across the sea.
I sail the ship all alone.
I never think I'll make it home.
    Louie, Louie, me gotta go.
Three nights and days we sailed the sea.
    Me think of girl constantly.
On the ship, I dream she there.
I smell the rose in her hair.
    Louie, Louie, me gotta go.

| | I'm glad there are still those that recognize that classic comic. From
    faded and otherwise impaired memory:

I was born down south on a chicken farm
    Near Nashville, Tennessee.
Tweren't nobody there but a sky full of air,
    Seventeen billion chickens and me.
Then one day I said "Hey, hey, hey"
"I think I'll take some LSD."
It blew my mind; it made me kind.
So I set my chickens free.
    There were chickens in ????
    Chickens in the barn,
    Chickens in the cauliflower,
    Chickens in the corn.
Chickens driving Cadillacs to Washington, D.C.
When I set my chickens free.

Welcome to the file! I wonder if I had anything to do with your motivation to
complete the lyrics? :-) Sorry I can't fill in the blanks, though.
For those of you wondering about the missing 'L' from my p-name, it's because
it would get truncated if the number of lines in my note took more than 2
digits to print, so I chose a letter to delete that would have minimal
emotional impact and not make me look like a total spelling-bee reject. :-)
My only exposure to this song was a video on the PBS show "the 90's" about 4
years ago. I thought it was a real cool song, with a good message.
Sometimes I can't help but think the revolution *will* be televised :-(

It's not a song (but there may be potential there). Again, my memory
is hazy on this (anyone who claims to remember anything about the 60s
wasn't really there), but I think it was an R. Crumb comic strip. It
was probably in ZAP. I can picture the comic and the style was
definitely R. Crumb. If anyone happens to have this particular strip

I'd really like to get my hands on (for personal reasons) is "Mr.

Sid, I have stack of those old comix books, and may have the strip

singing holy songs and reading fromthe bible
i told her i was lost and she told me all about the pentacost
and i seen that girl as the road to my revival...

later on that very same night when she crept to my tent with her
flashlight, my long years of innocence ended...
she took me to the woods saying "here comes something and it feels so
good" and just like a dog i was befriended..
    	was befriended...

oh what a night, what a garden of delight
even now that sweet memory lingers...
i was playing my guitar, laying underneath the stars

Every Little Light - Matt Kelly
    ---------------------------------
    Well there in starlight
    Bound by our love
    It's time to remember
    That love is alive

    It's day and night time
    There's joy and sorrow
    There's black and white
This time we have is borrowed

    Cuz Every Little Light
    It shines on me
    Cuz Every Little Light
    It shines on me
    Oh sets me free
    Oh yes it does
    Every Little Light

    And yes we loved you
    From a long time ago
    And this is something
We really wanted you to know
    And yes we're all ramblers
And we just wanna be free
    And this is something
    I hope we can be

    Cuz Every Little Light
    It shines on me
    Every Little Light
    Lord, It shines on me
    Oh sets me free
    Oh yes it does
    Cuz Every Little Light
