I think Marv knew the song, since it starts with "cover me with

it.
Blondie was my favorite group (well, second to the Beatles) all those

I probably should answer this since I think I blew it anyway as far as
calling it his 1st solo album. It's 'RUNNING DRY (Requiem for the Rockets)'
by Neil Young off of EVERYBODY KNOWS THIS IS NOWHERE. You know, the album
with such obscure hits as 'Cinnamon Girl', 'Down By The River', 'Cowgirl In
The Sand', ...ect. The song has a great gypsy sounding violin accompaniment.
So was there an earlier NY solo effort? One that contained the song 'The
Loner'. I was informed there was, but I have never seen it.

The Electric Prunes were way cool - my favorite album is "Mass In F

Eleison (the whole album's in Latin) in the acid/cemetary scene in New
orleans. 1910 Fruitgum Company and Strawberry Alarm Clock were too

Yup, Incense and Peppermints was Strawbery Alarmclock. And I've even
seen it available in CD.
My memory is hazy on this one, but I think 1910 Fruitgum did "Yummy,
yummy, yummy I've got love in my tummy"
Grootna, on the other hand, is worth giving a listen to if you come
across it. When we found this one in college, we originally thought it
was a stealth type album. It was produced (well, seduced, actually)
by Marty Balin, and the vocals sounded somewhat like Janis Joplin.
But we later found out (this was in '78 or so) that they really were a
band in their own right.

Well that's up to Jamie, isn't he on vacation ?
Listening to the rest of TBT was another set of lyrics that would

verse he ever wrote and how he hates singing it...

| Ok, the tune (hmmm, not even any guess's) was titled
"Power Failure"
and was covered by Leo Kottke on "Mudlark", I believe. Originally
I had thought it was something like a Kinks tune that Leo had
done, but I was confusing it with Feats tune that Weir does on
"Heaven Help the Fool". Pretty confused, huh? Note that "Power
Failure" was written by someone else, or two someones, rather, but
I don't know if it has appered anywhere else. Don't remember the
names offhand, but one of them might have been Booker something
(made me think of Booker T and the ...., but I don't know for sure that
it was the same Booker). Of course "Power Failure' was on my mind
after the last storm (the rain is finally getting to the last of the
snow now, sigh). OK, how about an easy one??

you better go in disguise.

Rush.
From the Subdivisions? album... (the same one with The Weapon, Digital
Man, Subdivisions, Countdown, etc.) ...I believe the song is called 'The

I finally got one of these!
The name of the song is "Losing It", and it is on the Signals album. It is
about a dancer who grows old and wishes she were young. The song is based on a
character in a Hemingway novel. Dave, you and Jeff are both correct about
Analog Kid and Digital Man. Both are on the "Signals" album (and are related,
obviously). BTW, Rush played Analog Kid at Great Woods last year. I was blown
away. What a guitar solo. What a show!
Jeff, I was impressed that you figured it out (mostly). That *is* an obscure
tune.

Analog Kid is the second song on the (Subdivisions?) album. Digital Man is
later on the same album I think.
BTW, the first two lines of the song in question are:
"The dancer slows her frantic pace,
In pain and desperation..."
I'll check my CDs at home tonight for the exact name, and to see if I have
my albums confused -- but I still stand by my guess. ;-)

| I was debating whether or not to go ahead with the tune I thought of (another
one of the 'obscure' type, especially for deadheads!), but I decided to go for
it. If no one gets it in a week I'll put something else in. There's a beer in
it for anyone who gets it!
Oh God of earth and altar,
bow down and hear our cries.
Our earthly rulers falter,
our people drift and die.
The walls of gold entomb us,
the swords of scorn divide.
Take not thy thunder from us,
take away our pride.
The group that does this did not write it. It was adapted from something
previously written.
Excellent lyrics, I must say. Very appropriate in this day and age (it was put
to song 10 years ago).
good luck!

BTW, the song was written in the mid 1800's by a clergyman. Not sure of his

And for the record, my favorite band is now, and has been since the
spring of '79, the Dead :^) Ahhh, ZooMass, where the bus came by :^)

SO I'll think about it and if I don't put anything in this afternoon
it'll have to wait till after the weekend.
Now for some thinking (tomorrow I just ski)

The curtain rises on the scene
With someone shouting to be free
The play unfolds before my eyes
There stands the actor who is me
The sleeping hours takes this part
Through traffic, telephones and fear
Put out your problems with the cat
Escape until a bell you hear
Our reasons are the same
But there's no-one we can blame
For there's nowhere we need go
And the only truth we know comes so easily
The sound I have heard in your hello
Oh, darling, you're almost part of me
Oh, darling, you're all I'll ever see
Ah, ah, ah
It's such a rainy afternoon
No point in going anywhere
The sounds just drift across my room
I wish this feeling I could share
It's such a rainy afternoon
She sits and gazes from her window
Her mind tries to recall his face
The feeling deep inside her grows
Our reasons are the same
But there's no-one we can blame
For there's nowhere we need go
And the only truth we know comes so easily
The sound I have heard in your hello
Oh, darling, you're almost part of me
Oh, darling, you're all I'll ever see
The sound I have heard in your hello
Oh, darling, you're all I'll ever see
Oh, darling, you're almost part of me
Ah, ah, ah
