I dream about the Dead all the time... so does Dave and the kids.
One dream I had after Brent died. I was in a huge auditorium ... all
alone. Gradually I noticed that there was one other person .. it was
Brent. He was on stage playing .... "Dear Mr. Fantasy" ..
I remember walking up to the stage and watching him .. I was crying..
He smiled at me ..

| I dream about the Dead alot too. it wasn't last night,
but I had this dream...
...I was taking a hike up to a little lookout with my children.
When we got to the view, I sat the kids down with something to
eat while I disappeared for a few minutes to get my mind in shape
to enjoy the view...
when I returned (or did I), anyways, I could hear this conversation
going on with my kids and 2 guys who had mountain-biked up the trail.
My dog was barking at these bikers and my kids were calling out
to the dog: "Come here Jack! Jack!....Jack Straw! (this is NOT
my dog's name)...anyways, these two guys just start cracking up
when they hear the dog's name. They started talking to the kids:
"where did your dog get THAT name?"
"oh, it's a name of a Grateful Dead song. Both my parents
are deadheads..."
By the time I arrived on the scene, my girls had told these two guys
all about my DEADication, and it turned out that one of the bikers
was Bobby ...it just happened so innocently in the dream, here my
kids had told him all this stuff that I would never have the nerve
to tell him if I met him (and he wouldn't want to hear it anyways)...
but coming from kids, he listened and actually had a "normal"
conversation with me when I showed up. (I didn't forget to have
pictures taken with him!)

"Represion, recession, its all de same man" (old Cheech and Chong

But twice in the last week I've had deaddreams. The best one wuz

Standing on t he Moon and acouple of other songs while we danced
crazily.....then we all shook coolective dead hands...the roadies
pulled out long tables and we all rapped, drank, smoked, and ate
with the band......BIG FEAST!!! Man, what a dream! VERY VIVID!
The second one wuzn't so vivid and did not include the band but
wuz more of a "time in the parking lot" type dream.

| I have these dreams about going to a show. I'm always on the outside
of a huge arena and I'm always searching for tickets!!!
One dream I had was . . . I had just parked my car (I remember having
a hard time finding a place to park because everytime I thought I found
one, it ended up taken), got out, jumped over a puddle which I parked
by, and got my feet wet. Anyway, I remember walking around with soggy
orange converse on, looking for tickets. Looking around at tons of
colored buses and lots-o-people.
The funny thing is, I never make it inside for any of the shows. I
can always hear them playing but I never get to see 'em.
I always wake up VERY disappointed.

I had a dream that the Boys were playing in my high school.
It was really wierd. I went to a Catholic school so for them to
be there was strange. I came walking around the cornor and saw
them on stage, there must have only been about 100 people at the
most. They played a song for me (can't remember what it was) and
after I got to meet them. Funny thing about meeting them was I
wasn't even nervous. They seemed like old friends. I think we
just sat around and talked about everyday stuff. I wonder what
we really would really talk about...if I could get any words out
of my mouth.

122.18 | strange dechead dream last night | BIODTL::FERGUSON | the rainbow does not have a beard | Mon Aug 05 1991 14:17 | 52 |
| So, last night, for the first time in a loooooong while, I crashed at
my parent's house due to my apartmentless status. It is very, very quiet where
they live, and with the rain falling gently, I passed out and dreamed...
I dreamed that a bunch of us DECheads planned to play hookey from
work and consume not your normal, average supermarket mushrooms. We planned
to meet at a local supermarket and go from there. I remember seeing various
DECheads milling around the supermarket gathering up goods for the day's
fun. I bought myself a case of beer and was totally happy. This is kind
of strange since most supermarkets in Massachusetts do not sell beer (especially
in the country). While checking out, the woman running the register asked
me where I was planning to put my empties (with the thought that I was going
to consume the beer in the parking lot!). This made me suspicious and a
bit paranoid and I replied with a smart answer saying I was going to recycle
them.
Finally, everyone was assembled and we drove to this place in Harvard,
which does not exist. Parts of where we hung out exist (the Lake), but not
exactly. I remember a bunch of us trekking down this road asking questions
and getting psyched. Bruce Mandaro asked me where I grew up. I pointed to
up to this ridge engulfed in the haze of summer and said, "right over that
ridge."
We were walking through conservation land. But now, for some reason,
there was a road and houses on the land. Very strange. I suggested for us
to cruise to this other location on private property ... I said it was ok
because I knew the guy who owned it and doubted that he would even show up
during the day. So, we made our way, laughing, joking and consuming the
stuff we bought.
Then, we were all hanging around and not doing much. Da ve decided
to climb this tree. I don't know how he did it (we all watched with
amazement), but he shinnied up this really big tree -- there was no way one
would wrap his hands around this tree (well, maybe the treemon could but
he wasn't there). Anyway, da ve climbed pretty high -- maybe 10 or 15 feet
up and sat on a branch. Every one was giggling and wondering how he did it.
Then, he kind of lost his balanced but managed to catch a branch to safely
lower himself to the ground.... everyone sighed!
While we were soaking up the fun, some other guys (who were straight)
showed up and they showed us this weird thing in a tree. It was a rock
shaped like a shark!! When the tree was growing, it took this rock from the
ground with it... part of it had grown into the tree but the majority of
it was showing. So, we all stared and pondered the shark_in_the_tree with
the 2 other strangers who had no idea what we were up to....
that is about all i remember.
very strange.
All in a dream.

| So, last night, I had yet another dead-related dream.
For some reason, my older brother did mail order for me. When the order came
through, he gave me the tickets. I was looking to attend 2 shows and I got
4 tix / show. Weird thing though, each pair of tickets was a different color.
So, basically, I had 2 pairs per show that were a different color. Strange.
And, as I was looking at the purple pair, the price was $34.50 ... I
looked at the tix and thought something was strange for I did not pay $34.50
for those tix (the cost of the others was $23.50)...... and since they
appeared to be good seats (sec 1, row 1, seats 1+2!) for that particular
venue, I wasn't complaining.
Anyway, show time arrives. I enter the show with (?????) and give the ticket
taker my purple ticket. I go in. Then, I proceeded to my section and showed
the dude my ticket. He escorted me downstairs to this cool practise room.
I then concluded that the purple ticket was special-- a backstage pass-- and
I got them by accident... and, there were several other folks slowly filling
the room.
so, i'm in the room looking around. there were a fair # of big security dudes
making sure nothing bad was going to happen... i saw Jerry's guitar, bob's
axe, and all sorts of neat-o recording stuff... then, in the hallway, the
opening band walked past (don't know who they were) and you could hear the
crowd get excited.
then, somebody came out of this black door and made an announcement to the
people in the room... this person started to introduce the band members, one
at a time, as they walked through the door... I remember mikey hart passing by
me and shaking my hand. i remember bobby coming in and immediately turning
his attention to some nice looking woman on the other side of the room.
finally, the last person to be introduced was Jerry... everyone was pretty
excited. I remember going up to him, shaking my hand, and telling that i
really appreciated his guitar style ... he said thanks with a grin.
after the introductions, they played a couple of songs for us... nice and
mellow, low-key.... then, it was time for them to take the stage...
end of dream.

my shoulder and see Dan, my friend who has left this earth, sitting in
the only huge overstuffed easy chair at the show. He's smiling at me.
His brother is still insisting I partake and I'm still insisting I
shouldn't until I find my group. i finally give in, indulge and look
back over my shoulder at Dan, who smiles and winks at me....Poof...end

I dreamed that Jerry Garcia was in my home, only it wasn't really my

so that you could see the crack of his butt when he bent over to pick

He played solo, but it sounded like all the boyz were there. I didn't

played sweet and clean.
I can't remember any more.

| couple of weird ones lately....
Before the Denver McNichols run in December, I had my normal "Dan at the
dead" dream, Dan is my friend that left us this time last year. We were
at a small venue outside somewhere, Me, Dan, Patty, Dan's bro Dave and
the regular crew...front row. Jerry comes down and sets with us while
the rest of the band plays on, we have a nmormal conversation and then
Jerry returns to the stage. The dead continue to play while ahuge
buffet is brought out and the entire show gets in line for food, and
the band keeps playin! Then one by one the band gets in line, somehow
the music keeps being played. We all have a grate feast, laughin and
eatin, dancin and carryin on. So when Eyes was played at the REAL
Denver shows...I knew it was for Dan....
Just the other nite I had a rather weird dream...hope it doesn't really
mean anything. The show we were at (no Dan this time) was lousy! The
boyz just couldn't get it together and after several lame songs, left!
I yelled at Healy 'Where they goin?" he yelled back "Arabia!" %^/

| Last night I had a dream about Jerry and Bobby.....
Let's see....they were going to play a concert, and I was down the hill
from Jerry's house. His house was beautiful and I was looking at it for some
time. I walked up the driveway as they were walking out to their cars to go
to the show. I said, "Hi Jerry! Hi Bobby!" And they waved back and drove
past me. I did the same thing the next night. This time, Jerry drove away
first, and Bobby got into a kiddy car (it looked like a miniature golf
cart) with some other guy and started to drive but then stopped a few feet
away. So I walked up to the car and he was holding his head saying, "This
is too intense. I can't take it..." (Apparently he just took some
hallucinagenic drug and was having problems driving). So I rubbed his
shoulders and said, "It's OK....just take it slow.." (??????? Rubbed his
shoulders? Like I said, it was a weird dream). So I then picked up the
kiddy car and carried them on my shoulders down the driveway. This way,
Bobby didn't have to drive. (Don't ask where I got these incredible
superpowers to carry 2 grown men in a kiddy car on my shoulder, but I
remember thinking, 'Wow I got stronger' in my dream). So I carried them
to Jerry's wedding. (I guess they weren't on their way to a show after
all). Jerry was marrying this woman that he has been seeing for quite some
time now. I remember looking at their rings and she bought him this ring
with this huge pink heart (like a rose quartz) in the middle and small
diamonds around the heart. I remember thinking, "God, how gaudy. I
wonder if he'll wear it while on tour?"
That's all I remember. There was more, but it's still a little cloudy.
Yes, it was kinda boring but I was just thinking about it so I decided to
share it with you guys...:)

I had a dead-related dream the other night...
I was at a show (sometime, somewhere... no clue) and there were
these huge escalators going up and down and crossing over each other
all over the place. I was so confused trying to find my seat and
I was just riding up one of the escalators and a woman and man in
front of me kept telling me I was going the wrong way... but I
couldn't figure out if and why they were talking to me because they
didn't even know me. I finally got a peak inside the stadium to see
where the heck I was from the stage and then suddenly got pushed onto
another escalator...
This time I ended up right next to the stage. And I do mean RIGHT
NEXT to it! The stage was very small and very strange looking...
between songs Jerry walked up to the side of the stage where I was
and was asking for requests... the people around me started asking
for all of these songs I had never heard of and suddenly I was
feeling lost and I couldn't think of one song to request. Jerry was
really grouchy and kept saying "no, not that one, I hate that one"
and he had a butt hanging out of his mouth the whole time. Bobby
was behind Jerry in his own little world just tuning up his guitar.
I finally just walked away and decided I liked Jerry better from
far away! :-)

raining harder than I've ever seen it rain, in my dreams or in real
life! I can hear China Cat drifting out of the venue and thru the
parking lot to the motel door way where I'm satnding. I say "JEEZZZUS!
It's raining cats and dogs!!!" to a deadhead standing nearby, at which
time my dogs wake me up from my sleep barking at a freaking cat in the
backyard!!!!!!

| Bunch of dreams last night. Last one I remember had the dead on stage
at a smallish auditorioum. No keyboards set up that I recall, and all the
tunes were space/ atonal stuff. At one point Jerry, with his new guitar
(red with an large inlaid spider - Spider Gawd, of course) seemed a bit
perturbed and had to have a conference with a techie. After a few punching
of buttons and plugging of cords, Jerry strummed the strings, and Wow,
you could finally hear him! A little later, Bob looked over in
disgust at the sunlight bursting through the curtains, so, being nearby,
I went over to adjust them somewhat so they weren't letting sunlight
directly on the band. After getting back in my seat there may have been
a break or brief lapse. The last thing I remember was Bob stepping up
to the mike and saying "The next one's for Glenn Cambell" and Phil
complained "Hey, I thought we weren't going to play anything with chords
in it" To which Bob just smiled and shrugged and they broke into this
dirge like tune. Sort of a "He's Gone" theme, but not He's gone".
At which point, I turned to a friend and said "I didn't know Glenn Cambell
was dead??" "Oh, sure" and after a bit more music I woke up convinced
it was time to get up, but twas only about 5:30. Time for a bit more sleep ;-)
The other dream was about being in jail, and was very interesting, but
I'm sure not true to life, as I've only spent a few hours in the
lockup at the police station about 20 years ago.
Why do I think this was all sparked by Nixon's funeral??

I had a DEChead related dream last night...
Lisa Yetto, Adam, and someone else, (can't remember who) were
on Jeopardy. It was actually a pre-show show.... so they
were just getting ready to be on the show.
Maybe the show will be tonight! ;-)

| I keep having a re-occuring nightmare that I have tickets to shows in
like Philly, Ohio, and D.C., and I leave to late and miss the show.
Like the show starts at 7:00 p.m. and it takes 5 hours to get to the
show, but I can't leave for whatever circumstances till about
5:00 p.m. and no matter how fast I drive I get there just as everybody
is leaving saying, " Wow! What an incredible show! "
What a hell I sleep in....................

I had a strange dead show dream last night. I landed seats for a show
that were row 1 seats 1 & 2. I showed up at the venue and discovered
the theater was underwater. I had to swin down to the doors and there
was a small air tight room. I walked in and saw the dead with Brent
on stage. The band couldn't play though because there were electrical
problems. so instead, they just had a question and answer session.
Sort of strange feeling, then I woke up.

I have Jerry dreams frequently - they started after he died. I thought
they would go away after a few weeks but they haven't. The dreams are
always pleasant ones .. he is usually smiling, sitting at a table
talking, or playing softly, or sitting in a chair in the sun. It's
like a couple a week - on average. I've stopped being spooked by it
pretty much and now kind of accept it.
