Showtime will be showing 3 x 1 hour segments of never-before-released
footage of the original Woodstock on August 15, 16, and 18. Performances
include Hendrix, J Airplane, and Janis Joplin, among others.

Sure wish I had Showtime, this might be very worthwhile stuff to tape!

also on Pay-per-view you can get Wood$tock $$ for $49.50 (which only
gives you Sat. & Sun. and Im not sure just what time they will start
    showing and stop showing)

MTV will be doing live updates also.....

I'll wait for the CD myself :') and any good boots to Boot (pun) !

I hope Showtime includes better clips than in the movie
Woodstock. They were replaying it on Channel 11 sunday
night, and during Hendrix's solo they spend a lot of time
showing crews cleaning up the garbage from the empty field
after the show. It was a startling and unnerving contrast
with the way beautiful music... I had to turn it off.

There's a new cd out now with Hendrix's entire performance
(except for the last song, a reprise of Hey Joe that was
omitted for technical reasons, whatever that means). Why
would it take *25* *years* to put that out?

Sad to think it was only about 13 months to his death...

I would hope so... to be able to see more of Hendrix' set, or Janis',
or the dead, if they make it, would be great to see! Same with Country Joe,
the Airplane, et al.

I have no idea why it would take 25 years to release Hendrix audio, perhaps
due to management/heirs. A lot of great Hendrix has been released over the
past couple of years, mostly due to his dad (heirs) I think. Supposedly
Hendrix has a completely different band, jazzier style, than the Experience
or Band of Gypsy's.

There was a blurb in the paper about some other bands - Janis Joplin and
someone else, who's managers never allowed anything to be released, until
now...

Are any radio stations in the Boston area carrying it? I guess I'll be
surfing the Clarke Belt looking for clear uplinks, but I expect anyting

Probabley should mention that this is a 2 hr show that also features Paul Simon,
Keith Richards, Sting, Neil Young and Phil Collins (according to our local rag)
-- so there probably won't be a whole lot of footage of the Dead....

So, who caught the A&E thing last night? Pretty lame coverage on the
boyz as compared to everyone else on the show. "Touch of Gray" video
and some short interview spots with Mickey and Bobby. Kind of a let
down I thought. Was hoping for some live footage.

Didn't watch much of anything last night. Spent a little bit of time
dissecting my VCR after it started eating tapes. I even know what's
wrong with it, but it looks like a repair shop job. Basically
the tape never gets 'tautened', for lack of the correct terminology.
It will play and record alright, but once the tape is wound around
the heads, it does not get pulled back into the tape cartridge when
you go to eject it. Munched a few tapes before I got to analyze
the problem. Worst part is that we intended to copy a friends tape
and add some stuff from the (supposedly) free Disney preview this
weekend. So now we ruined their tape, and I'll be doing some cover
off manually assisted taping this weekend. At least we got a new
one recently so I could tape something while the kids watch
Barney or something...

How old is the VCR? The usualy suspect if it is a few years old and/or
has a lot of miles is that the various drive belts, idler wheels etc
need replacing. Failing to unload is almost certainly the main drive
belt, typically on the underside of the VCR. Take off the bottom plate
and have a look. You may find that it has slipped off. If it is
stretched and cracked it needs replacing. Sometimes you can bandaid it
with 'regrip' (popular in the days of turntables), but that will only
buy you a few hours, if any.

Some of the M/O places will sell you a kit of belts, tires etc for a
given make or model. If you feel like trying DIY, I may be able to help
you track down the parts (MCM Electronics and Parts Express are
probably the best sources for repair stuff.

Gary, the VCR is over 6 years old. Nothing obviously broken from the
inside in a top down view. I did suspect the main drive motors are
underneath. I'll check into that tonight, before I start my manual
taping session. Of course I wanted to see what happened in the
insert tape cycle, but the damn tape kept getting in the way and obstructing
the view! My wife was viewing me taking the thing apart last night and
she kept saying, "There's a hair over there. Maybe that's it!" Until
I had to reply "will you stop bothering me about the damn hairs and dust!
They've probably been there for years!" ;-) Of course, my dropping small
pieces of wood into the works while trying to activate that tape insert
cycle probably didn't help much ;-)

I saw the A&E thing....big disapointment!, I was surprised at the

you could see those big turnstyles in the background. It looked pretty
easy to hop the fence though, and Giant Stadium is usually heavily

did anybody happen to catch the segment on MTV called Straight Dope?
a mini-documentary on different drugs, usage, explanations etc...
they did a segment on herb, heroin, cocaine and Hallucinogenics..
the one on hallucinogens centered around lsd and the main context of
the story focused on the Deadheads "who have cultured the lsd trade in
the country" according to one dea agent..the story of its use among
heads and the sordid tale of one Chris Martensen now serving 5 years
on an lsd charge in Arizona were told. The peice also pointed out the

Subj:	Where's Eric Latest Mailing/Radio Broadcast

There was a supplement mailed from the US coorespond of Where's Eric with
all the concert dates posted. They are just as stated in the previous
Slowhand digests. It also stated "Following this arena tour, Eric will
perform a number of club shows throughout the US. These gigs will only be
announced on the day of the show. Keep your ears open."

On the other side of the mailing was a announcement that The Album Network
will broadcast a syndicated special of "The World Premier of From the
Cradle", which will include the braodcast of the entire album plus an
interview with Eric. This will be broadcast on Tuesday, September 6, 1994.
Attached was a listing of all the stations in the Album Network. The list
is too long for me to transcribe but here are the major cities. I suggest
calling your local radio stations for braodcast time. You should know that
I called the closest station that it is playing, not anywhere in Philly,
and they didn't have a clue. I even spoke with the program director.

Don't ask what determined major cities for me. This is just an arbitrary

If anyone should actually catch this broadcast in their city and happen to
record it, I would greatly apreciate a copy of the tape. I can't believe
that it isn't being broadcast here in Philly by one of the many stations.

I haven't heard any dj's, just voice-overs (the guy with the deep burly voice
- what a job!). I did hear adverts, but they were all local stuff.

I think this station is going to get played out quick if they don't play deep
cuts. I saw an ad for this on the tv yesterday and the album covers they
showed on the screen were all "classic rock" albums that we've heard a million
times :-(

Why, because I own "Get the Knack"? :-) I used to have WCGY on my presets
anyway, I see no reason to replace it with WHJY or WFNX just yet. (I only have
5 presets :-()

I was listening to an interview yesterday on NPR's Fresh Air (great
program, btw, 1&4pm on 90.9 WBUR in Boston). Terri Gross was
interviewing a man who had Tourette's Syndrome. Most people know
Tourette's as the condition which causes its victims to shout
obsceneties, but that manifestation of Tourette's affects only about
15% of the afflicted. Involuntary movements, non-obscene outbursts,
and tics are the more common symptoms. This man had just finished
working on a film about Tourette's sufferers called "Twitch and Shout,"
a title which shows that humor does lives in this PC world.

Terri asked him if Tourette's sufferers have a hard time finding
partners (this was NPR after all) or spouses, and he told a funny story
about a wedding he attended between a man who had severe symptoms and
his mildly afflicted bride. The Rabbi spoke of how much the couple had
given to the Temple and the groom shouted out "Money! Money!" Later,
the Rabbi spoke of the things that the couple would enjoy in life and
the groom exclaimed "Grateful Dead tapes! Grateful Dead tapes!"

Wait, I know I've read about some TV show what was on the '67 scene that
had Harry Reasoner hosting/narrating, in a sort Jack Webb-ish manner.
The clip last night did have Reasoner narrating. Also, I thought the show
was covering the time period up to 1967 or 1968 - not at late as 1969.
The Dead didn't bring out China Cat till late 68/69, right?

Also - do anyone else notice the scenes just around when they had Bill Graham
on, talking about how the people would come and dance wildly? Bill was talking
about his Avalon Ballroom. The film clips WERE FROM THE 1974 GD MOVIE!
But, we all know the Avalon Ballroom became Winterland, right? :-)
The film clips were unmistakable: its the scene during Sugar Mag with the,
uh, well-endowed braless woman dancing/swaying with her bare-chested
long-haired guy.

The 10-part series is on channel 50 (boston area) this week, from 8 to 10 PM.
Its on next week, on Channel 38.

Best soundbite from last night's 2nd episode: Paul Kantner, on the whole
musical/political/hippy/free love/drugs/rock-n-roll scene:
(paraphrased) "for about 2 weeks in the summer of '67 everything was perfect".

That's probably Hippie Temptation, a network special from '67 about
San Francisco, summer of love. The dead are the feature band, looking
very burnt out during an interview. Phil said "I think the whole world
would be better off if everyone turned on" or something like that.

Deadbase III says the first China Cat was 9/29/67. It was the only time
it was played in '67. I mentioned the Family Dog because it's a pretty
famous video featuring Santana, the Airplane, the Dead, then a mega jam
of various members.

Last night I came across a series on PBS which had something
to do with "the history of Rock" - don't know what it was

It's a 10 "episode" history of "rock & roll" (what PBS is showing).

Part 5 (tonight at 9 in the Boston area) has a lot of British guys
exclaiming about blues heroes... Part 6 (right after, beginning at 10)
will include Garcia commentary on SF area doings.

Before they cranked this up into a documentary series, it was a book by
Robert Palmer (author of "Deep Blues", member of Insect Trust, jammer w/
Ornette Coleman, Dylan, Stones, etc., and all-around world-class roots
music and jazz head). Been in the works for years.

Originally it focussed on the roots of rock (1945-1954), but now it seems
to have telescoped and been harnessed into something else... Wonder if
the book has any of the right-on qualities of "Deep Blues"... - Jay

I don't think last night was just on the Beatles and the Byrds. Had a lot
to do with Dylan too. It kind of highlighted how the American Folk scene
sparked the British bands, producing 'skiffle'. From Skiffle grew the
Beatles, the Beatles then sparked the folk/blues scene in American into
more full blown Rock, which then sparked the British scene...

Basically a lot of synergy between the American and British music groups
borrowing and growing off each other. There was one point where some
English guitarist (Eric Burdon?) talked about being in awe meeting
Jimi Hendrix. And Hendrix thanked or mentioned that he had basically
ripped off a riff from that guitarist ;-)

Very well done and recommended. My wife and I will be tuning in tonight.

After last nights folk/skiffle/beatle/dylan hour, they went on to cover
Motown. Also very good.

Interesting how they mentioned all these groups were cashing in off
Dylan's songs, except for Dylan ;-)

I'm about 99 44/100% sure that this is the same series that was on about 8-9
months ago, on a cable tv channel like TBS or something like that (but not
HBO/SHO etc). I remember seeing the episode with the GD, and I also distinctly
remember missing the episode with Dylan (which I did catch last night).
The Dylan episode was thoroughly dissected over on rec.music.dylan, back when
the series was first shown :-). The 1966 live footage of Dylan with the Hawks
is from the movie "Eat the Document", and some of the exact same songs are on
the classic boot CD "Royal Albert Hall" which wasn't really recorded A.H but
was from Dublin or Manchester shows (I forget which).

The last, or second to last, episode, dealing with the rise of punk/ska
has interviews/commentary with Talking Heads members, Bunny Wailer and
_Lee_Perry_, my favorite dub producer of all time.

Wonder if that footage of Dylan doing "Ballad of a Thin Man", the acid-
(amphetamine-?)drenched '66 version, was from "Eat the Document". Always
wanted to see more of that spring '66 concert footage, never have caught
up with it. Nothing quite like Dylan & the Hawks in '66 (this side of
  70-7 Dead).

Good description of the first hour (Dylan -> Byrds -> Beatles etc.)

The 2nd hour was more than just Motown too. Started at the source of
gospel crossover into pop (Ray Charles '54), -> Motown -> Stax (Pickett,
Redding, ...) -> Aretha -> Muscle Shoals -> Monterey Pop -> Martin Luther
King's death and how it tended to deflate black/white alliances [including
Stax and Muscle Shoals] -> James Brown. [There is a separate "funk"
episode coming up that starts with James Brown and goes through Sly Stone
to P-Funk and so on.] I remember when black music fans subtly (sometimes
abruptly) began separating themselves from the white pop scene -
definitely a sea change, very hurtful and unfortunate. I didn't enjoy
reliving it last night. Guess that means episode 4 did a good job. - Jay

Yeah, but I doubt anybody else in here has ;-)

Just to fill the rest of you in, this is in regards to Babylon 5 (of course)
and PTEN, the distributing network, decided to hold back the final 4 episodes
of season 2 till October. I think they start broadcasting them around October
11, but these are syndicated shows, and the stations (ch 64, Rhode Island,
ch38 Boston, ch 50, NH) can show them when it best suits them, so it may be
an actual week or more later.

However, the same shows are shown over in the UK, starting at a slightly
later date, and were not subject to the same restriction of delaying
them, so they were shown in late July and August. Contacts over there
made tapes, and sent them to Gary, and I picked up copies from him (as
well as watching the last 2 on his 8 foot projection TV. Way cool ;-)

Now, why do I suggest watching them? Well, if you don't like SF, then maybe
you wouldn't care, but a lot of non-SF people have found them interesting.
If you ever watched and liked Star Trek, chances are you'd find B5 a lot
more interesting. A lot of people watched a few and decided it was so so.
You remember the guy with the funny hair, there for comic relief? Well,
he's turned into a pretty nasty villain (sort of). And the nasty reptile
guy? He's basically the now the victim. Remember the telepath? Well she's...
nah better not say anything about her. These 'final four' as they've
been called, are some of the most interesting shows I've seen on TV.
Not just some of the most interesting SF, but the most interesting shows.
But then, I'm a rabid fan, so you might have to take what I say with
a grain of salt (or maybe some cream cheese ;-) So if you have the time
and the inclination, I'd recommend them.

And Gary, I think they've taken to calling themselves UPN 38, but I believe
their call letters are still WSBK.

>You remember the guy with the funny hair, there for comic relief? Well,
>he's turned into a pretty nasty villain (sort of).

One of the great things about B5 is that very few of the characters are
flat. Lando, despite starting a war/genocide for political gains, has redeeming
qualities and has generally been shown to be a complex personality, as have most
of the other characters. The "good" characters have dark sides, and the "bad"
characters aren't wholly without merit. And some characters are so alien that
"different" is a more apt term than good or bad.

Mark
86.96STAR::HUGHESCaptain SlogMon Oct 02 1995 12:1818
It reminds me a little of Twin Peaks, in the way that seemingly throw
away references will often become significant months, or years, later.

I think the main things is that the characters are allowed to grow and
change. They don't have to be fat, dumb and happy at the end of each
episode which is usually the case with series TV.

I can help out with copies if need be.

Oh, the season openner for DS9 is looking pretty good, at least for the
first 30 minutes (which is as far as got when I remembered I was
intending to spot check the tape, not watch it :-) ). It kind of looks
like they are trying to change the 'feel' of the show; even the
openning credits and music have been redone. Vaguely reminiscent of
another show set on a space station in a somewhat hostile part of the
    universe...

I bet it's an April Fool's prank. WZLX and WBCN are both owned by
Infinity, which also own WBOS and ? There's little real competition in

it's not a prank, it's a move to get Howard Stern's show on in the

No joke . . . I read a recent article about the demise of the classic
rock format and it said that the average playlist is about 300 songs.
The up-and-coming format is s'posed to be adult alternative, whatever

I've been listening to more contemporary music lately now that the

Since my truck has been in the shop for a week now, I've had the
pleasure (NOT!) of driving the very cramped Corolla with only an AM/FM and
a busted tape deck... the switch of Charles Laquidera and the Big Mattress
show to WZLX with Howard Stern on BCN is permanent :-( The story is on the
front page of the Boston Herald...

Before the switch, WBCN was really getting to me - they seem to have a set
playlist of like 25 songs that they play over and over and over and over
among too many commercials. Some tunes are (were) good (Bush, Alice in
Chains, etc), others are horrible (some song by a female singer "Just a Girl"
or something that they play every hour), and I've been listening to it less and
less. I've always liked Charles, but ya gotta have good music to go with it.

I haven't been able to listen to WZLX for a couple of years now. They got
too lame when Infinity acquired them and made the clear split between the 2
"competing" stations. And it doesn't look like it will get any better -
this morning Charles was on, and when there was music, it was: The Cars
(You're All I've Got Tonight), followed by Supertramp (I don't _want_ to know
the name ;-).

At that point I switched to NPR to hear the latest discussion on nicotene,
the tobacco industry, and the judicial system ;-)

The good news is that BCN will probably play _music_ at night! Wow, what a
concept ;-)

Looks like WAAF and 101.1 in NH will be used a bit more on my radios.
WAAF has improved a lot, playing lots of good music albeit with juvenile DJ's
and the occasional Metallica/Rush/etc selection.

I guess I should buy yet more CD's ;-)

ya, Charles got old ....

So is Charles following in Captain Ken's footsteps? I switch to ZLX and
then out the door? Ken's at Wbos now....

I listen to WXRV out of Haverhill aka "the rivah" It's really good and
crosses a lot of boundaries. They play a lot of alternate takes and mixes
I've never heard before. They really mix it up and get a bit more electric
on the weekend nights...they have an "acoustic-y" sound in the day if you
ask me...they play all kinds of music....

Other than that it's NPR/AAF for the headbanging in me/ I'd listen to
FNX but don't get it....WBRU is too far awah :(

Chuck's feelings notwithstanding, it's probably a good move
by Infinity Broadcasting. Laquidera is in his late 50's. In the
long term, his loyal listeners -- who are no doubt sporting a little
gray themselves -- will get to hear him play those "classic" (old)
rock favorites well into their twilight years and Howard's rabid fans
will get their dose of "shock" in real time.

Myself, I used to like Charles back when I was in high school
(71-75), but haven't listend to commercial radio in years. Overall
I just don't have the patience to wade through all the crap to get

WZLX usually carries Westwood One shows in Boston. They had the
Prince's Trust concert on Sunday, which had portions of Quadrophenia,
Dylan, Clapton, and Alanis Morrisette. I didn't know about the show,
but I heard a noise like a thousand cats being crushed by a rusty
steamshovel and I ran to the living room where I found out it was only
Alanis. I was about to pull the plug when they announced the other
    guests.

Gee, thanks. This is what I aspire to (lifted from Addicted to Noise
    by way of MUSIC) . . .

Jagged Little Sleeping Pill

Still a goodie-goodie at heart?

ATN's Jennie Yabroff reports: "Alanis Morissette is so badass! I mean,
she's like, a totally right-on sister. It's just like I was saying to my
boyfriend, Chuck, the other day, I go, 'Alanis Morissette is just the
coolest 'cause she's like all feminist and shit, but she's also really
pretty and dresses cute. But not too pretty, you know?' And Chuck goes,
'Yeah, I'd do her.' "So he totally agreed with me."

OK, I didn't actually hear the above conversation at the Alanis Morissette
show Wednesday at the Warfield, but I swear it took place. It took place,
I am certain, between any number of the hundreds of late-teenage girls
roaming the floor, Wonderbras on full attack, shouting along with "You
Oughta Know" and pumping their delicate little fists in the air. Wooo
   Alanis! You go, girl!

Here's how the night went: The Rentals, Morissette's openers, took the
stage a little after eight. Matt Sharp (of Weezer, but no, the Rentals are
not a side project, dammit!) positively radiated in a Big Bird yellow shirt,
and was the picture of good breeding and nice manners. The crowd was well
behaved as well, and the Rentals got through their show with a minimum of
fuss. Sharp at one point sang a bit of Michael Jackson's "You Are Not
Alone," he thanked the audience politely for being so good, everyone sang
along to "Friends Of P." A few audience members asserted loudly that they
either were friends of, or the actual P him/herself. The evening looked
   promising.

The Rentals left the stage. The lights went up, and I looked around.
Mostly youngish girls, graduated from the grunge-flannel shirt around the
waist look, but still too cool for the flowy dress hippie chick look. A lot
of thirtysomethings dressed for the company picnic in the mandatory jeans,
white t-shirt, and patterned vest. A few leather ladies. A whole gaggle of
utterly nondescript boys, drinking Rolling Rocks and watching the girls. At
the end of my table were two of these lovely young creatures of the night,
practically bristling with their manicures, cigarettes, and shiny Gap
shirts, trying to act oblivious to the three older guys standing on the
   floor right below them.

Patsy was brunette, Tabitha was blond. Patsy had one of those stupid
rainbow fluorescent tube thingies they always sell at concerts (what fun!)
She waved it around, looking bored, then hopped off to get some nachos.
While she was gone, Tabitha struck up a conversation with the three guys in
front of her, Buddy, Putty, and Guy. Patsy returned with nachos.
Introductions were made. Tabitha got cheese all over her cute little suede
purse. Alanis Morissette took the stage.

Wooo hoooo! (whistle whistle whistle) It's Alanis Morissette! She's so
cool! She's like Edie Brickell in leather pants! She's like Victoria
Williams with a dirty mouth! She's like that chick from Four Non Blondes
but not as scary! She's like every other Top 40 girl singer with long brown
hair! Yeah, but she's got glitter in her hair! She's got glitter in her
hair and she knows guys are jerks but they still want to fuck her! She's
   so cool!

And so forth. Morissette launched into her numbers, patrolling the stage
and shaking her hair and asking the audience if she stressed us out. Not
really. Her set was utterly uninspired, and after jumping up from their
seats for "All I Really Want," the audience seemed uncertain of what to do,
and mostly sat back down abruptly, or just stood in one place, nodding
vaguely. Wooo! Alanis! What a gal! Why am I yawning? Patsy and Tabitha
lit their Bics to see their nachos, apparently unaware of Morissette. She
wasn't hard to ignore. Picture perfect, song perfect, looking much the same
as she does in her videos, Morissette live was less than the sum of her
parts. The greatest risk she took all night was in introducing her band
("and on harmonica, it's me." Clever, Alanis!) -- it was also the most she
   said.

Bored beyond tears, I checked up on Buddy, Putty, and Guy's progress with
Patsy and Tabitha. Tabitha had thrown her rainbow thingie into the crowd.
High fives all around. Patsy was feeding Putty nachos. Guy brought beers,
which the girls sipped surreptitiously. Emboldened, Patsy left the table
and waded into the crowd on the floor. She stood for a moment, raised her
hand in the air, and waved one finger at Morissette. Woooo! Invigorated,
Patsy returned to the table, and soon departed for the bathrooms with
Tabitha. Buddy, Putty, and Guy promptly took the girls' places at the
table, and ate the rest of their nachos. Morissette introduced a song,
saying "I just wrote this three days ago, but just act like you've heard it
   fifty times." It wasn't hard.

Patsy and Tabitha returned from the bathroom in time for "You Oughta Know,"
the song that, perhaps errantly, made Alanis what she is. It's a pretty
good song, actually, filled with vitriol and spite. The kind of song an
ugly girl would sing, a mean girl, a tough girl, a girl who'd put on a
really rocking show and not care if she got sweat rings under her arms. And
yet, Morissette is none of those things. The disappointment is not that
she's pretty, or seems rather sweet and friendly, but that she just doesn't
do the work. Her forehead may have shone, but it was with glitter, not
   sweat.

So she delivered what everyone had been waiting for, and all the girls
shouted along with "do you think of me when you FUCK her," and the balding
skinny guy who'd been hovering uncomfortably close to my chair all evening
leaned over to shout "every time I scratch my nails down someone else's back
I hope you feel it" in my face, and I watched Patsy and Tabitha bouncing
their butts from the tabletop to the backs of their chairs, hoping one would
land in the nachos, and then it was over and done.

There has been some scuttlebutt recently (some of it scuttled by ATN, guilty
as charged) about Alanis Morissette having had a brief career in her native
Canada as a teen pop star (gasp!) The implication being, she's come a long
way, baby, sort of like Vanessa Williams having once posed for nudie
magazines. Morissette's dark secret, which she recently admitted to being
embarrassed about, and hoping none of her fans listened to those old
records, is in truth nothing to be ashamed of. Just as Williams in the Miss
America swimsuit competition is actually not that far a stretch from her
Hustler days, Morissette as the hard rockin' voice of disgruntled teen
princesses everywhere can't be far off from her former days of pop glory.
Choke me in the shallow water before I get too deep.

This is probably in here already..Patty and I watched some of a Janis
Special that was on a learning channel or something similar last
Saturday nite. Good stuff..the parts we saw were her concerts, first at
Montarey Pop (not the footage from MP Fest movie either, looked like home
video footage), in Canada during the "Mighty Swell" train ride with
the dead, interview with that hip cat Dick Cavet (Janis, pokin fun at
Cavet, said she could tell he was hip cause of his shoes) %^) and her
re-visiting Port Arthur Texas after making it big...the look of disgust
on some of those early 70's Texas red-necks when Janis was being
    interviewed was priceless.

All I know she sang a little while and then flew on..."

I forget where they've been running this... but I saw it, too.
    Kris Kristofferson narrates, right?

    It was very moving.

How 'bout that train ride. Help me out with the denizens of the train...
    sounded like some tour.

nope...different. No naration at all, just concert and interview clips,
    that's why I mentioned it.

Gradny on bass of little feat fame, Hunter, all the dead road crew,
one other badn I think, wanna say Country Joe, but that's not right.

I always fall asleep during the week before these things come on,
or I'm off doing something where TV is the last thang on my mind,
besides...I hate Letterman, Leno, Stern, all talk show and late nite
show hosts....I think we need a more Hip, yet older talk show type just
for us aging hippies...someone like Wavy Gravy or PHIL! or maybe just
    Dick LAtvela or David Gans?????

also be on Saturday at 1pm)

Classic Albums:"American Beauty"
VH1's classic albums documentaries are about the greatest albums of all
time, hosted by one of the Fab Four - Ringo Starr. This documentary looks
at the span of the Grateful Dead's early recording career from the
psychedelic meanderings of their first records (including a brief look at
their '68 album, "Anthem of the Sun,") to the mellow, country-tinged sounds
on the 1970's "American Beauty." Dead band members, Phil Lesh, Bob Weir and
Mickey Hart provide back-stories to their songs including: "Ripple," "Box
of Rain," "Truckin," and "Sugar Magnolia." Archival interviews with Jerry
Garcia, interviews with album cover artists, Stanley Mouse & Alton Crosby,
long-time friend David Crosby, WB exec Joe Smith round out the show.

86.200:New Hendrix releases next weekSMURF::MROGERSFri Apr 18 1997 09:5016
Speaking of classic Hendrix, his entire catalog is being
released yet again! Jimi's father and sister in-law now
have the rights to all of his recorded material and are
reissuing them now. The original releases came out on
vinyl this week, and the CDs will be out next Tuesday.

The reviews for the updated versions have been phenomenal.
Apparently the CDs and LPs were all mastered from the
original master tapes. Until now, none of the CDs were
mastered from the originals. The reviewers have been saying
the sound quality is vastly improved.

"Cry of Love" now appears under the working title that Jimi
gave it before he died ("First Rays of the New Rising Sun").

Wow, great news on Hendrix! I guess I gotta get the
re-remastered version of Electic Ladyland - this will make
4 copies: album, 1st cd (2 separate ones), then the remastered
	MCA version, now this.

Glad I waited on probably my all time favorite Hendrix disc,
	Axis: Bold As Love.
