For those of you new to this, Bartlett pond is in Northboro and there is a
boat ramp just off Lyman street which provides a nice picnic lunch area.
Here are directions to the boat ramp on Bartlett Pond;

This note will not be purged.....


495 south  to 20 West

~1-2 miles you will see Stan's sub shop on your right and a packy on your left
	take this left (onto Bartlett road)  
	NOTE: if you pass Chet's you've gone too far

pass Algonquin HS (left)  - you'll go around a curve with the pond on your right

take the next right onto Lyman
	NOTE: if you pass alot of office buidlings you've gone too far


about 200 yards in there will be a dirt road (with a mailbox - looks like a
driveway)  on your right - go here.  NOTE:  if you get to a real right or go
over a bridge you've gone to far, if you get to Rt 9 (Burger King) you really 
messed up,  turn around!!  :-)

By the way, if you need to pick up some food-type stuff ... the number for

	Traveling southbound on I-495, take Exit 23B onto Route 9 West
	(towards Westborough and Worcester).  Traveling northbound, the

	Westborough center). 
	
	Follow Route 30 into Westborough center at the rotary.  Travel
	around the rotary slightly more than 180 degrees.  Follow signs

	OVK will be on your left.  Park immediately.  *Don't* park in
	the lot for the Cumberland Farms store and the italian

	Directions to the Royal Mandarin in Marlboro:

Take 495 to Route 20 east

 - stay on route 20 -

~ 3 miles you'll see Taco Bell on your right just before a traffic light.

	stay in the right hand lane through the light then get towards the left

Make the next left (through the break in the island) into the Royal Mandarin.

Directions to the Taj of India, Canal Street, Nashua:

From the south:
Take rt 3 north to exit 6E (Broad St.)  Follow Broad St. to Amherst St.
(101A). At the intersection with Main St., go straight through the light.
The Taj will be across the street at the next light.

From the east:
Take rt 111 west to Hudson. After you cross the river, stay to the right
when the road forks. The Taj will be on your left after going through
about 5 traffic lights.

From the east or west:
Take your best route to 101A east, and continue with the directions from
the south.

Lunch deal: entrees in the $4-5 range. 

Directions to The Giant of Siam, East Hollis Street, Nashua:

From the east:
Take 111 east to Hudson. After you cross the river, stay to the left when the
road forks. Follow this road until it intersects with Main St.  The Giant of
Siam is on your left one block before the intersection with Main St.

From all other directions:
Take route 3 to exit 5. Follow this until it intersects with Main St.
Go straight through this intersection onto a short road which turns
left. There is a parking lot on the left which says hospital parking.
The far end of this lot is parking for the Giant of Siam. The restaurant
borders the other side of this lot.

Lunch deal: entrees in the $4 range.

Directions to Ming Garden, Daniel Webster Highway South, Nashua:

Follow Spit Brook Road (exit 1 off route 3) east until it intersects
with the DW Highway. Turn left at the lights, and Ming Garden
will be approximately 1 mile up the road on your left, just after
Pizza Hut.

Lunch deal: $5.50 all-you-can-eat buffet

Directions to the Mandarin, Amherst Street, Nashua:

Take exit 7W or 8 off route 3. Go west on 101A about 2 miles.
Look for a small shopping center on your right after a roast beef
fast food joint and a gas station, and the cow in the front. The
Mandarin is in the back corner of this shopping center.
Additional parking is always available in back of the
shopping center.

Lunch deal: $4.95 all-you-can-eat buffet.

Directions to Crossraods Cafe in Acton MA (with a little help from Dave Carr -
I edited and changed the directions from 495 because they were backwards,
hopefully I didn't screw them up more!)
    
     
    From NH, Northeast Mass - Take 495 South to exit 31?  119 Littleton
    Common.  Go right off the ramp, over 495, pass a DEC, then go
    straight thru the lights at Littleton common.  You are now on 2A/119.
    Travel straight for about 5 minutes and take a LEFT at the first set of
    lights into Nagog Park.  Crossroads is the left-most building in the
    strip mall...
    
    From points west - you have your choice: either go 495 North to exit
    31? (119, Littleton Common - 2 exits and maybe 4 miles from Rt. 2), and
    take a left off the ramp, pass a DEC on left, follow
    directions above from Littleton Common...
    
    OR, take Rt. 2 East to the Concord rotary, and follow directions below.
    
    From Boston, points south, 128 area:  Take 128 to Rt. 2 West.  Go about
    15 minutes until you come to the Concord Rotary (State Pen on left at
    the rotary).  
    
    From the Rotary:  for the left-brained, take a RIGHT at the SECOND set
    of lights 4.4 miles from the rotary.  For the right brained, you will
    pass a Burger King on your right in about a mile, a big storage place
    on your left in about another mile, go straight through the lights at the
    junction of Rt. 27 in about another mile, and then take a right at the
    next set of lights at Nagog Park (opposite the Concord Reservoir)...
    
    From PKO:  For the left-brained: take a left, go straight until you hit
    Rt. 2.  Follow 2W and directions from the Rotary.   For the
    right-brained, you will go across 117, straight thru the next set of
    lights, and go for oh, 5 or 6 miles or so on Rt. 62 until you get to
    West Concord center.  You have to bear right at the lights, and you
    will come up to Rt. 2 in about another mile from the center.  Follow
    Rt. 2 West and directions from the rotary  (there is a shortcut through
    West Concord center, past the prison that brings you right out to the
    rotary...)
    
    For the brain dead:  drive up and down Rt. 2A/119 between the Concord
    rotary and Littleton Center until you find it...
    
    There, that should do it!

    			Price/performance: 3 ***'s
    
    Tommy Larose and his partner Mike opened a natural foods market in
    downtown Nashua, NH, a couple weeks ago.  A tiny little shop, packed
    with the healthy essentials, and with...
    
    vegetarian counter service for 6 and 2 booths that will accomodate
    another 8.
    
    For lunch, I had the veggie burrito plate: at $3.50 one of the two most
    expensive items on the menu.  It was more than I could possibly eat in
    one sitting.  Definitely for the famished.
    
    For comparison purposes, I got one burrito with tofu+veggies and the
    other with tempeh+veggies.  Mike had sauteed the tempeh [soy and rice
    cake] with toasted sesame oil and it was tasty.  The burrito plate
    included brown rice and condiments: good salsa, great guacamole, and
    some kefir-based "sour cream".  
    
    I also tried the kefir milkshake -- their own blend of fruit juices
    with kefir milk.  Not too sweet: refreshing and light.
    
    They appear to serve as long as the market is open.  I noticed the
    breakfast menu included granola pancakes in three flavors {blueberry,
    blackberry, coconut walnut}, among other things...
    
    Directions: Take Exit 5E (Rt 111) off Rt 3 in Nashua NH.
    	Proceed east on Kinsley.  After crossing Main, take a right at
    	next light (East Hollis).  Again take a right at next light 
    	(labeled Harbor Ave on south side of road, Spruce on North side).
    	Larose's market is one block down on the left, right next door 
    	to "Johnson Electric".

The 'show (a.k.a. The Horseshoe Pub) is in beautiful (ack, gag) 
downtown Hudson.  The Ragency (a.k.a. Westford Regency Hotel bar) is 
on Rt. 110 in Westford, just south of the Boston Rd. exit on I-495.

Never seen Newcheese....but I have a nose for beer, so if chance 
should find me in the mood and in the neighborhood, I'm not concerned 
for directions. ;-)

I might be able to do something on Thurs.  it is
deb's b-day today, but i have carefully negotiated a
raincheck to celebrate her b-day on Thurs instead due
to massive amounts of school work, which comes to an
end this weds (ya!).

another alternative is the Old Oaken Bucket, one of
deano's more favorite haunts :-).  actually, it is not
bad... beers are cheaper than the Ragency and the atmosphere
isn't that bad...

I get a kick out of the fact that this is the 
first place I look when needing directions to
any given bar in New England.

Thursday would work for me - The Bucket and
the Ragency are really close - the 'shoe and
NewCheese are possible too...Mmmmmm....beer....

	Guntis is in CT, staying with his recuperating-from-broken-neck
	dad while his mom is in the hospital having heart surgery, so
	I'm trying to arrange rides for all my kids, one of which needs
	rides home from tennis practice everyday around 4 (the woman who
	helps us out alot with rides is in the hospital for back surgery
	herself this week), but I can't possibly get there then - but I have 
	to - so, I'm praying for rain so she won't have practice and go home 
	on the bus...

	And, I'm carpooling tomorrow and I'm not driving so I couldn't
	drive anywhere to meet you but there's always here at the
	cafeteria and we could plan to meet there at a certain time,
	and maybe others will join us?

 how far is zko from the sheraton ?  we can plan on meeting
 somewhere and gathering a mad caravan of friends ... in the
 caf, out for lunch, i'm not real picky, hell, i eat my own
 cooking at home, so i can't really complain  :)

 i'm out-to-lunch most times anyways  :)

 after work ... we'll probably do the vball thing after 5:00
 but i'd be up for meeting somewhere in between for some
 liquid refreshments before the games ... how do you spell
 r-a-g-e ?

To get to the Tara you have to enter the same entrance off of Spitbrook Rd.
that you do to get to ZKO.  For the Tara you travel a little down the road
and hang a right at the light.  For ZKO you head straight, so they are within
a few minutes walking distance of each other.  I'd say head over to Indian
Village for the buffet, but I'll be working from home tomorrow, as my 
Wednesday meetings have gone into an indefinite hold state.  YES!!!

But Thursday beers could be do-able.  Where's the old oaken bucket?
I know where the others are.  Might even bring my Hale-Bopp photo's
along.... (alternatively would bring to SIS or also to SIS)

where do they get "zko" out of nashua ?   i work in shrewsbury and
it only took a few weeks for me to figure out where they got "shr"

The Bucket is on Rt 110 in Westford, between the Littleton
Common exit on I-495, a.k.a. Rt. 119, and the Boston Rd.
exit.  It's the same road the Ragency is on, but closer
to Littleton.

Stumbling distance for me. ;-)

    Well,  I vote for the rage too - only cuz it's more convenient for me
    working in littleton.  But, I'll try to make the shoe too if that
    prevails.  I can make the rage by 7:10ish but the shoe will be more
