| By default (no one else was doing it) ended up with the task of
organizing the remaining volunteers. We had a reduced number of slots
this year and were given a list from the BAA of all previous year
volunteers who had returned their applications. This list was enough
to fill all available slots.
However, we have been asked to handle one more job and I need 2 last
minute volunteers. We will be handling "mat duty" at the Wellesley
checkpoint. As near as I can tell, this entails working with the
company doing the timing with the new chip system. There is a
detection mat spread accross the road. When a runner passes over it,
their chip is recorded. Your job will be to watch the mat during the
race and help ensure it is working. I assume this means keeping the
crowds from crowding in on it.
I have been asked to give preference to those who have volunteered
before. So, if you are interested, please send mail (please don't
call) to [email protected] or MSE1::SULLIVAN. If I get more
than 2 responses, selection will be based on;
- prior experience
- first come, first served.
Thanks,
Mark Sullivan
