2586.0. "Qlogic IQPCI-D broke after 3.5 FW CD" by ACISS2::MILLER () Fri Apr 25 1997 19:12

I am looking for some assistance as to how to proceed with this issue.

    I have a site that has approximately 15 Alphaserver 2100's 4/275,
mostly dual CPU and a few 2100A's. They run WNT 3.51 and have DEFPA's
or DE500's. They also have a third party SCSI FWD PCI interface (Qlogic
IQPCI-D ISP1020 based) that talks to either a DG Raid array, Odetics
tape library (TL820 lookalike), a printing press plate maker or one
    internal Seagate FWD SCSI drive.

The problem is I can't upgrade the 2100 firmware past what is on the
V3.5 CD without affecting the Qlogic card. Depending on what is on the
FWD SCSI bus results in either a constant "waiting for PKB0..." or a
hang at the "Testing the disk drives" during system reset/powerup.
It looks like a conflict between our ISP1020 (KZPDA) implementation and
    Qlogic's?

On one machine, I did notice from a >>> show config, the QLISP1020
showed as version 2.02. I know our current is V2.10 I think. By looking
at the card itself, it appears to be ROM based so I don't know if it
can be field programmed. I have tried sending mail on the Qlogic web
site for information on this older card, but it gave me an error
message. I did find some ROM binaries and a flash program for Intel,
but am not sure whether to try this or not. The ROM version is
something like 5.09 as far as I can tell for my type of card.

Anyway, I may want (and soon will have to due to WNT 4.0 install) upgrade
the firmware to something more current. Where should I go from here?

    Thanks,

    Dale

    Dale,

    The solution to problem is:

    - at ARC console, select run program.
    - insert Workflow Systems Disk, from accessory kit, (this is a Creo
Products disk, I am assuming this is a Creo System)
    - run EEROMCFG
    - select the Qlogic card
    - change "Set Queue Check Condition" from 1 to 0 for all devices
    (this is the second row)

I am the CSS engineering project manager for Creo's account. You can
contact me if you have any issues directly related to Creo's
    configurations.

Yes, it is a Creo site. I am surprised their on-site techs didn't know
about this as I have brought it to their attention numerous times.

    Anyway, many thanks.
