2584.0. "Non-PCI graphics cards? (ISA/EISA)" by SANITY::LEMONS (And we thank you for your support.) Thu Apr 24 1997 18:45

[Continuing a discussion I'm trying to have in the DIGITAL_UNIX notes
    file]

Are any non-PCI graphics cards available for the AlphaServer 2100A?

    Thanks!

Is the EISA Compaq Qvision still available?

2584.2Yes. No. I don't know.SANITY::LEMONSAnd we thank you for your support.Fri Apr 25 1997 10:5422
    According to
    http://www.digital.com/alphaserver/tech_docs/alphasrv2100a/docs/supported_options.html#Video
    the PB2GA-AA (COMPAQ Qvision 1024/E (2664 & 2930) is supported on
    Digital UNIX (1 per system).

According to http://www.businesslink.digital.com, only the following
PB2GA-* parts are on the Price List:

    1 PB2GA-CA #9GXE 1280x1024 ISA Graphics
    2 PB2GA-JB TRIO64 S3 1MB DRAM PCI card
    3 PB2GA-JC PCI graphics mod,1MB DRAM
    4 PB2GA-JD PCI graphics mod,2MB DRAM

So it appears the EISA Compaq Qvision is not available. And the
PB2GA-CA that is available is not supported on Digital UNIX, according
    to
    http://www.digital.com/alphaserver/tech_docs/alphasrv2100a/docs/supported_options.html#Video

    What a mess. Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

It's getting harder and harder to find -any- non-PCI video cards with
    any kind of performance.

If you just need one, you may find one. If this is a volume app, it's
time to rethink the platform design.
