2511.0. "Help - STRAY Interrupt" by BRADEC::PODOLINSKY (Peter Podolinsky - MCS Slovakia) Thu Feb 06 1997 03:37

Hello all,

We have run into a problem with a stray interrupt.
I am running out of gas and the problem persists.

Problem:

We have upgraded the AS2100 RM system to become a memeber of TruCluster (=MC) System.
The upgrade included a swap of I/O module, since it was not at a supported HW rev.
By the end of installation we have noticed a message:

					ace0 at eisa0
                                        stray interrupt unit=1, iunit=0
                                        ace1 at eisa0

This appears during almost every boot sequence.
As a result (my gess) the console port COM1 is frozen, I can not use it for a hard wired VTXXX terminal.
When the message is not displayed, (rare, but happens) all works fine.
So far we have swapped almost everything except the EISA/PCI backplane and the CBUS Main board.
Problem persists. We have pulled out the MC card, KZPSA controllers, no change.

Please, could someone point us into the right direction ?

Meny thanks,

		Peter

The driver's interrupt handler was called and when looking at the interrupt
mask there was no reason for the interrupt. Have you checked to verify that
there are not IRQ conflicts? Although the fact that it works sometimes and
not others would indicate that there may be a piece of faulty hardware
on the system.

I've seen this before when the wrong ECU has been run. Make sure to run the
OpenVMS/Digital UNIX ECU, not the Windows NT ECU.

Hi,

I am sure that we are using UNIX ECU.
Current status is:
When we deinstall DE425 NI Card, the message goes away.
We have tried to replace DE425. No change, problem remains.
We have moved the NI Card to other EISA slot, no change.
We have upgraded to latest FW ( from V3.8 CDROM) and used V1.10 ECU (UNIX) floppy. No change,
stray interrupt remains there.

Any hint, comment ?

2511.4Wrong CFG fileBRADEC::SIVYTue Feb 11 1997 15:1813
    Hi,

The problem with stray interrup is away.
We used old version ADEC4250.CFG from ECU 1.8 and system
work properly. CFG file for DE425 is different in ECU 1.8, 1.9 and
1.10. These differences was reason for "stray interrup"

    Regards
