2508.0. "ISA Mach64 with VMS 6.2-1H3" by SWAM1::VELIJANIA_FR (Think AlphaGeneration) Tue Feb 04 1997 19:53

    My customer complains that his AlphaServer 2000 5/300 system is
    incapable of running in 1280x1024 mode using the default ISA Mach64
    card. The O/S is VMS V6.2-1H3. The monitor is a VRT17.

    The SOC mentions that 1280x1024 mode is supported. The most resolution
    the customer is able to use is 1024x768. Anything more causes the
    corrupted display with wrong colors and distorted images.

    Has anyone else seen this?

    Thanks

	RE .0

	What monitor does the customer have? The VRC15 is not capable
of 1280 X 1024. The VRT17 and VRC21 both are capable of 1280 X 1024.
If the customer has a third party monitor then he must check to be
sure it supports 1280 X 1024 at 72 Hz.

	RE .2

	I guess I need to go get my eyes checked again. .0 has VRT17
right there but I missed it. I can't find anywhere in the OpenVMS
Alpha SPD, the Open3D SPD or the DEcwindow/MOTIF SPD where supported
video modes are stated.

	The note in the SOC;

" Video adapter included in system supports up to 1280 x 1024
resolution, 72-Hz monitors"

	is not very clear. All it says is that the Video adapter
supports 1280 X 1024, not that OpenVMS or Digital UNIX support that
mode of operation.

	I would ask this question in the OpenVMS notes conference>
