1126.0. "Job Dependency creation" by HTSC04::WILLIAMCHAN () Wed Jul 03 1996 05:27

Hello,

	I'm quite new for the product Scheduler V2.1B, I would like
	to ask the dependency job creation and running.

	Since I received the call from customer about the
	dependency job, so I try to setup the environment for
	testing.

	I create job A - ( $show dev /fu ) and job B ( $show mem/poo/fu ).
	Job A must run first and completed successfully before job B
	runs. Then on the DECwindow interface, I created the dependency
	arrow point from job A to job B. And I start confusing because
	of the terms "Schedule interval" and "Next Run time". What I need
	to do is I created jobs A and B, I want to start job A manually
	or by schedule, then upon the completion of job A, job B will
	start to run automatically and then re-schedule themselves again.

	What I had tried was: "schedule interval" is + 0 00:02 and "Next
	run time" is "Never" for new created job A, while "schedule
	interval" is 0 and "Next run time" is "Never" for job B
	(I've scaned thru' notes #667 & #273 for reference).
	When I finished edit the job profile, I clicked job A to run, after
	completion of job A, job B didn't started automatically and
	job A re-scheduled itself again. When I checked the job B profile,
	the "job state" was "Scheduled". But when I run job B manually once;
	the "job state" was changed to "dependency wait". Afterwards,
	these jobs A & B can run automatically.

	Did I mis-set something? What else do I need to do?
	(p.s. no pre & post function within two jobs set)
	Furthermore, what should I do if more jobs is required to add to the
	tail of job B i.e. job C, D, E, F ......... in order to start
	themselves one by one?
	How can I decide to start the job A by schedule or manually?

	Thanks for any help.

Best regards,
William-TK
