I have a meeting with a large customer tomorrow to discuss POLYCENTER Scheduler. I realize that the transfer of this product to Computer Associates causes a new angle but I have some questions that I'm hoping someone will be able to shed some light on. 1) Is there anyone at CA or Digital that I can call to get information about the current or future state of Scheduler? 2) Last fall I had a discussion with the NSM group and was told at that time that they planned implementing the V3.0 Server on Windows NT. Does anyone know the current status of this port (or at least the status when it left the company)? 3) With regard to the V3.0 agents -- is there a VMS (either VAX or Alpha) available or planned? 4) Can a V3.0 Server (running on Digital UNIX) do load balancing with V2.1 VAX/VMS agents? I realize a lot of these are speculative but any information that anyone can provide will be appreciated and helpful. Thanks, Larry

Larry, I know some of these answers are late. I have some contacts in the scheduler engineering cimmunity, but you must not take some of these answers as gospel truth as CA hasn't, as yet, defined what it is going to do. 1) CA announced at DECUS that there will be future versions of all the POLYCENTER products that they have taken over and they will be 'enhanced' (their words) to interact with other CA products. 2) I spoke to Ron Collier (Who is/was the engineering manager) just before he left and he said that an FT of V3.0 on NT was just about ready, but the take over by CA had delayed the release 3) I understand that OpenVMS is back on the table again - at least for a V3.0 agent. 4) No, it can't Hope that helps Shaun |
