1102.0. "DEC Scheduler and ASE" by ATYISA::AMSELLEM (Pascal AMSELLEM) Mon May 20 1996 12:57

Hi,

I know that Dec SCHEDULER release 3.0 on Digital UNIX is not supported with
ASE.

But I tried to make it possible by creating a soft link between /var/sched
and /usr/scheduler which is a ase file-service.

I gave the name of the IP-ALIAS ASE service to the SCHEDULER_SERVER.
I put in /var/sched/schedule/etc/sqlhosts the same IP-ALIAS name.

Here the IP-ALIAS=sv0015. But, if I did a hostname, the answer is sr0015. In
that configuration Dec Scheduler doesnt start all its processes.

I did :

1) scheduler_startup.sh environment

******* Please enter the full node name including domain *******

Enter the value of SCHED_DEFAULT_SERVER [default=sr0015]: sv0015
The new value of SCHED_DEFAULT_SERVER is sv0015 [default=n/y]: y

The current value of SCHED_DEFAULT_V21AGENT is NO
Do you want the Scheduler server component to have support
for communication to Scheduler V2.1 agents [default=n/y]: n
CONFIRM the Scheduler server WILL NOT support V2.1 Agent [default=n/y]: y

Enter the value of SCHED_LOG_MAX [default=2500000]:

Enter the value of DBPATH [default=/var/sched]:

2) scheduler_startup.sh menu

option 9) to import the default database sched_install.exp

and some errors occured :

25591 - Transport control received an invalid connection address

Unexpected SQL error was encountered -25591
        From File:/users2/build/src/dbm_user.ec
        At Line: 482

Transport control received an invalid connection address.

Unexpected SQL error was encountered -25591
        From File:/users2/build/src/dbm_part.ec
        At Line: 129

Transport control received an invalid connection address.

Completion Status = FAILURE
Call to Store_Part failed
Returned status was 60

Press <RETURN> to continue:

But when I changed the hostname of the server by doing :

# hostname sv0015

The import is correct, and everything is OK. Scheduler works fine.

Did someone have any idea so that we can bypass the problem of "gethostname"
made by scheduler ? A kind of allias of the gethostbyname commands executed
by scheduler so that the name is IP-ALIAS.

Or is there anyone who found a solution to make scheduler version 3.0 work
with Dec Safe ASE ?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Pascal.
