1086.0. "%BAS-F-SUBOUTRAN when deleting Jobs" by KERNEL::HEGARTYP (Virtually Real) Mon Apr 29 1996 07:04

    Hi,

    I've got a customer with a scheduler problem as outlined below:

    Running Scheduler version V2.1B-1 with VMS version V5.5-2H4. Accessing
    Scheduler database from a remote node using decwindow interface. When
    deleting job from database got following error message

    %BAS-F-SUBOUTRAN, Subscript out of range
    -BAS-I-USEPC_PSL, at user PC=00387B57, PSL=03C000A8
    -SYSTEM-F-SUBRNG, arithmetic trap, subscript out of range at
    PC=00387B57, PSL=03C000A8
    -BAS-I-FROFUN, In external function REMOVE_FROM_JOB_LIST

    and lost all connection to remote node.

    I asked her to check on number of jobs in database as I saw a similar
    problem when more than 2000 jobs caused this problem, she did have more
    than 2000 jobs and has now deleted some and the problem seems to have
    gone away.

    Is there any way of preventing this from happening in the future? apart
    from limiting the number of jobs!!

    regards

          o A great deal of deletes are being done or
    	     the  database is large:

          As so may need to be compressed at regular interval
          do to the nature on RMS indexed files. Along with
          that issuing the SCHEDULE CHECK to cause a scheduler
          to do a consistency check on a database and to update
          its internal structures and counters to reflect the
          database and the current state of the system.

    	  Please refer to the documentation concerning the
    	  job delete information for more.
