Hi, Are there any implications running DECscheduler V2.1B-7 on an OpenVMS Alpha V6.2 system that does not have DECnet at all. The only network protocol being used is TCP/IP Services for OpenVMS. I do not want job synchronization on remote nodes. I have defined SYS$NODE. When DECscheduler starts the following error occurs twice: NCP-W-OPEFAI. Does this affect the functionality ? Is there a way to avoid getting these messages ? Thanks in advance, Mary.

As long as you are not using the remote synchronization with Scheduler the system will work fine. The startup of Scheduler was does do a search for "sys$system:ncp.exe" and if it does not exist will merely continue without an error. Without going through the code I can only figure that there exists the image "NSCHED$:SCHED_DECNET.EXE" and you can rename or even delete it and no long get this problem. But aside from the errant message all should be fine but you will not be able to do remote synchronization. |
