777.0. "2100 3 pci ctlrs dunix 3.2f rw531" by CSC32::R_ROBERTSON () Fri Feb 07 1997 17:14
Trouble addind a KZPSA attached to RW531 on Alpha 2100
Digital unix v3.2f OSMS v1.47/1.5.
This system now has 4 scsi busses.
Bus 0 is the embedded controller that comes with the 2100.
Bus 1 is a KZPAA PCI with just one tape drive on it.
Bus 2 is a KZPSA with the jukebox and two optical drives.
Bus 3 is a KZPSA attached to a hsz40
This is the old 2100 console code vs the operating system trick.
(console code is v4.4)
At the >>> prompt the jukebox and opticals are seen as
jkd0,dkd100,dkd200 (which would normally indicate bus 3)
and the HSZ is seen on the C bus or bus 2 at the console.
When Digital Unix v3.2f is booted, using the scu utility
we see bus 0 indeed has the system disk
bus 1 has the tape drive (kzpaa)
bus 2 has two opticals but no mc device (cannot see the jukebox)
bus 3 has the hsz
So when the system is booted the C and D devices are reversed.
uerf -R 300 | more shows a bus 2 but no devices
shows bus 3 with the hsz
/sys/conf/TMC01 shows all 4 scsi busses but bus 2
just shows the controller no juke or optical drives.
The juke itself is connected via a 1 meter cable and is terminated.
and thru the scu utility we can do a show device on the optical
drives.
I am wondering if we can manually define the juke and drives
in the config file would that help. If so what would the devices
be entered as
eg. device optical op1 at psiop2 optical 8
device optical op2 at psiop2 optical 16
We had tried the above those do not work but you get the idea,
also how would the jukebox be entered?
I have a alpha 3000 m500 with dunix v3.2c and a rw524 and a rwz52
that work just fine, when I looked in my config file
(/sys/conf/ROBBY) they are not defined there is a scsi1 bus
but no devices are defined, so I do not have an example to follow.
I believe this whole problem is due to console code vs dunix vs
2100 with multiple pci controllers.
Any ideas.
