New twist on the -intdiv divide by zero error. We had a RW536 with a "semi-bad" AC module cause these errors. Any platter we tried to mount gave the %mount-f-intdiv error. Config 40 was set to off. V3.3-1 OSMS VMS5.5-2. MCR SCSI doing inquire on the jukebox showed ...? instead of ...DEC RW516 . We changed config 40 to on(hp mode instead of DEC mode), inquire showed ...HP C1715t, then all the platters would mount just fine.

This was most likely due to the fact that the VMS I/O function PACKACK causes a SCSI INQUIRY command to happen and if it fails the SCSI READ_CAPACITY was not called so the geometry information was not available. This lead to the divide by zero in INIT. Good data point Robby, the people that try to isolate problem causes need to see the variation of things that cause this kind of problem. Rob |
