502.0. "RIS not loading PSE120/130" by CSC32::P_HILL () Tue May 13 1997 14:58
Has anyone had a problem getting the unix 4.0a or 4.0b RIS server
to load the subsets for PSE120 orPSE130 into a ris area.
I have tried to create an RIS area to load the subsets from
/mnt/pse130/kit and it only sees MPI and PVM. I found a work
around for now is to manually copy the files in the kit directory
for PSE to the RIS area /usr/var/adm/ris/ris0.alpha and copy
the files in the /kit/instctrl directory to
/usr/var/adm/ris/ris0.alpha/instctrl. but then I try to "vi" the
ProdNames file to add PSE to the RIS menu and when a exit and go
back into RIS it keeps renaming this file to ProdNames.old and RIS
indicates there is not software loaded in this area.
but then I create a client and using setld -l hostname: the client
is able to load PSE from the RIS area only as long as I have another
product that is recognized by the RIS menu and I don't edit the
ProdNames file to update it showing PSE.
