170.0. "DRS files very large." by CSC32::RUTSCHOW (Jack of all trades, master of none) Sun Apr 06 1997 23:45

Looked through the notes and don't find anything helpfull. I am
getting .DRS files that are over 10,000 blocks. Is there anything one
can do to cut these down in size? If you remove the notefile and add
it again, the next day it builds it right back up again... What if
    anything can be done???

    thanks,
    dale

My biggest .DRS file is about 700 blocks!!?? The .DRS is just a directory of
the notesfile with one line per entry. Assume an average of 50 bytes per
line, then your .DRS file with 10000 blocks represents the directory of a
  notesfile with over a 100.000 topics !!!

With other words, you must be doing something wrong....:-) Did you had a look
into that .DRS file?? (It's normal ascii). What notesfile is it?

170.2More than 9999 topics ?BACHUS::BIS10::BRUSCHEWed May 14 1997 13:4712

I had this happening on a conference that had more than 9999
	topics.
If I remeber well, rnu only compared on 4 digits to check what the latest
entry was and thus started all over again, the end result was
having each day a full directory appended to the already
	existing directory.
