A customer has a system with Dual-Pentium Pro CPU 200MHz (Non-Digital HW, it's a Tyan 1668 mainboard). Disk controller: Adpatec 2940UW, BIOS V1.23 Root harddisk: Quantum XP32150W. The system runs with SCO OpenServer Enterprise 5.0.0. When we install SCO SMP to activate the second CPU, the system can't boot anymore. The systems hangs when it loads the hardware drivers at letter "G". The patches rs500d, net100, oss449a and AHS 5.2 have been installed without solving the problem. Has anyone experience with Dual-Pentium Pro systems ? Thanks for any help. Josef Jetzinger

2569.1 | Is it enabled..., better yet..., is it certified? | PCBUOA::MCQUADE | st*rs = 1x4x9 | Thu Apr 10 1997 13:04 | 9 |
Not that I would know, but..., is smp enabled in the the BIOS? And..., has this board been certified by SCO? If not..., sell them a PRIORIS. After all, we have no problem with SMP. Kevin
2569.2 | system ran with WNT | ATZIS3::JETZINGER_J | Fri Apr 11 1997 03:20 | 9
I couldn't get an official statement till now if Tyan mainboards are certified with SCO. The server ran with Windows NT with both CPUs before we installed SCO. I also would like to sell him a Digital server, but the customer wants to use his one. He certainly pays for our investigations on this problem. Josef |
