761.0. "1995 grammy awards" by MPOS02::HARRISA (Think virtual warming) Mon Mar 04 1996 14:27

    MOD: please move if the topic exists already.

    Does anyone have a video tape of the 1995 grammy awards from Feb 28? I
    need to find out who the last act to perform at the ceremony (solo or
    group).

    thanks - ann

  Finally got around to taking a look...

  The answer is lifetime honoree Dave Brubeck, in a quintet that included
  Roy Hargrove and Joshua Redman (!!). Tune was "Rondo A La Turk". Sounded
  great, Brubeck was beaming.

  *Unless* it's a trick question, in which case the answer is Ellen
  DeGeneris(sp?), singing the lines "What if God was one of us? /
  bootie-slap bootie-slap". Her last comic bit was an impromptu performance
  of these (timeless) lines. - Jay
