The answer is lifetime honoree Dave Brubeck, in a quintet that included Roy Hargrove and Joshua Redman (!!). Tune was "Rondo A La Turk". Sounded great, Brubeck was beaming. *Unless* it's a trick question, in which case the answer is Ellen DeGeneris(sp?), singing the lines "What if God was one of us? / bootie-slap bootie-slap". Her last comic bit was an impromptu performance of these (timeless) lines. - Jay | |||||
