| > what's your favorite Linda Ronstadt's album ?
The only one I bothered to buy on CD is "Heart Like a Wheel".
> what's the best tracks from the one you have chosen ?
I don't know from best, but... There are hits everyone's probably tired
of (You're No Good, When Will I Be Loved, ...), and a bunch of other cuts
that are probably more interesting. I like "Faithless Love". - Jay

| I find her rock stuff to be fairly boring.
On the other hand, her trilogy with Nelson Riddle, especially "What's
New", is gorgeous...

That Nelson Riddle stuff puts me to sleep.
That is, the Riddle/Ronstadt collaboration. The "Batman" TV
soundtrack is a work of art.

I really like "Simple Dreams" as good as "Heart like a wheel".
Her rendition of Roy Orbison's "Blue Bayou" is heavenly.
"Maybe I'm right" also coming from the same album is also superb.
"Long long time" from "Silk Purse" is another classic track.

| re. Simple Dreams. It's my favorite also. My favorite song is
actually from her Stone Ponys days, "Different Drum." When I first
heard her voice I was hooked. Bjork's voice gave/gives me the same
feeling.

| I liked her guitar player from the 70's, can't remember his name.
I like Van Halen's version of You're no good, the music, and
their arrangement. But then again I hate soft rock, so don't
listen to me...

I was thinking Andrew Gold too. He's on the latest studio 10cc
release singing one song. Probably unavailable are 2 albums he
did with 10cc's Graham Gouldman in a band called Wax. There's
another Wax out there now.

says "Van Halen just wishes they wrote it".

of another space in time for me. She had an album in all spanish that
was an interesting departure for her however. Ans: Heart like a wheel.

| Gold's first album containing the song "Hang My Picture Straight"
was pretty good. I think it predated the release with those other
hits. He, Wendy Waldman, Karla Bonoff, and someone I'm less familiar
with formed a group called Bryndle recently. Saw them in concert where
they played solo and joint tunes. Not bad but wish they had done more
of their own stuff - the stuff that made them (and others) famous!
The connection with Linda Ronstadt is that she (and others) had hits with
lots of their tunes.
If you're interested, try locating the album by The Cretones that has
"Mad Love" on it. I think it's called "Thin Red Line" or something.
Terrific release on its own plus LR recorded several of those tunes
herself.
LR also lost me when she went the easy listening route.
