I read a good review somewhere that raved enough about the piano
playing to make me consider checking it out.
What's it like?

| Hrmmm... let's see... I wish I could think of someone to compare them
to, but I just can't. The piano IS definitely wonderful. There are
more slow songs on this album than the first one. But I still really
liked it. Their songs have just so much energy. And the absence of a
guitar doesn't bother me. It might even be what I like about them. I
just love putting the CD in and turning off all the lights...
I'd definitely recommend checking the CD out. It was only $11.99 at
Tower.

Tori Amos is the closest thing I can think of, though obviously not as
dark.

726.4 | Almost... ;) | MAGIC::CRAVEN | Who watches the Watchmen? | Tue Jul 25 1995 16:48 | 11 |
| Yeah, I guess Tori Amos would be the closest thing... And yes,
definitely not as dark. But... I don't know... they seem so much
different from Tori to me. A lot less dark, more uplifting. But I'm
so bad at describing things and making comparisons. ;)
Though, for me, the closest thing to the lead singer's voice I've ever
heard is probably Harriet Wheeler from The Sundays. Though Beth isn't
as high-pitched as Harriet, there's that same sort of... nasally
quality, I guess you'd call it...

Picked this one up last week,was almost going to pay $13.99 at
a place in Greendale Mall,wound up paying $9.99 at Newbury Comics.
Actually this cd's worth the higher price.Really good stuff!!!
I'd say if you threw together Tori Amos,Cyndi Lauper and the lead
singer of The Breeders(her name escapes me)it would pretty much describe
S,T's lead singers voice.
I've had 'Not That Dumb'stuck in my head now for a couple of days.
Thanks for the recommendation!!!!

726.6 | they are good | WBC::DEADY | I like this resonance, it elevates me. Bjork | Mon Aug 14 1995 11:05 | 8 |
| I picked up Suddenly Tammy's CD this past weekend -- it is great. The
keyboardist plays like Bruce Hornsby, and her voice reminds me of the
Cranes' singer. This is a good tight sounding trio. Their sound is
natural and strong, they may be quite successful.
