680.0. "Eagles & CSN Tours Cancelled" by SWAM1::MEUSE_DA () Wed Oct 05 1994 15:46

    Heard on the news last night that both tours have been cancelled due
    to illness. David Crosby is waiting for a liver transplant and one
    of the Eagles is ill.

    Hang in their Rolling Stones.

    I also heard that the Mellencamp tour has at least been postponed.
    Seems old John has had a few too many cigarettes and had a reported
    heart attack (it was first called a blockage and then later diagnosed
    as a heart attack). In any event he's off the circuit for a bit. He
    also denied rumors that the attack had anything to do with drugs, said
    he's been clean since the seventies, but that he did have a nicotine
    adiction (maybe he can do lung-aid next year). :-)

The reason the Eagles cancelled was Glenn Frey has some type of stomach
disorder. I think they could have gone with out him, personally. The
real reason could be that the Eagles have already made some $30M on this
tour already. How many yachts does Henley and the gang need to water ski
behind. I have a friend who had tickets for the Rose Bowl, $560.00 worth
of tickets, and was told that he can hang on to them for sometime in early
1995 for the concert to start again. I hate to say this, because I
thoroughly enjoyed the show in July, but these guys are getting greedy.

680.3well, if your a fan I guess it's okSWAM1::MEUSE_DAWed Oct 05 1994 17:0914

    Yep, a friend of mine paid what they wanted. Over a $100 to see them
    just for 1 ticket.

    My Stones tickets at the Rose Bowl in 14 days (Oct 19) cost me $40
    each, with tickets as low as $30. Which I felt was reasonable.
    Because they do put on quite a show. My favorite old geezers just
    keep rolling on.

Dave, I like the Stones too! But why does Mick need to lift his shirt up
all the time and show his sunken chest? It scares me. Hopefully you won't
be too close to the stage.

By the way, I heard Ms Crow was supposed to open up for the Eagles. What
a shame. And I know, I am not the only one.

    I had heard that half the money from the Eagles tickets sales
    were supposed to go to charity and that was why they were so high.

    As for Cheryl Crow opening, great, I absolutely loved her at Great
    Woods the day after she performed at Woodstock.

    if this is true then they would have told you that this was so, tax
    write off for the ticket buyer not a tax write-off for the Eagles...

    I heard that from a friend who saw the Eagles at Great Woods,
    apparently Don Henley said that after letting everyone know how
    upset he was with WBCN for ragging on them because of the high
    ticket prices.

    Yes, the Eagles asked everyone to send "Dirty Laundry" to WBCN as
    a protest. They even flashed the address up on a big screen or
    something like that.

    Eagles on MTV tonight (October 26) 9:00 EST.

    A live performance of the "Hell Freezes Over" tour. Actually, a tape
    of a rehearsal, made prior to the tour.

680.10This one worth keepingSUFRNG::REESE_Ktore down, I'm almost level with the groundThu Oct 27 1994 13:5515
    The Eagles special will be re-broadcast by MTV, Saturday the 29th
    at 8PM EST. I only caught part of it (forgot to set the VCR); I
    did see enough to notice there was a live audience. I think the
    concert portion was taped at their first appearance on the tour;
    there were clips of the rehearsal as the final credits rolled.

    I was a little surprised at the string section, but all in all it
    was great listening. I'll definitely have a tape in the VCR
    Saturday night!

    PS: Any more new on the state of Frey's health?
